...before you boyz and girlz got confirmation from Ducati for factory tour reservations when you submitted on the form on their website? The wife and I will be in Italy in June so I thought it would be a good idea to rent a car and head north from Rome and take a gander at the museum etc...

Just curious...

Cheers

If you own an RR, you may not need a reservation at all. (Desmosedici owners can often get right in)

How long will you be in Italy? Will you rent a bike there?

Won't be renting a bike. My wife and I are going on a Mediterranean cruise leaving out of Rome. I convinced her to fly in 2 days early so that we can rent a car and head north to Bologna for the factory tour.

You're going to be in Italy... and tour the D* factory but are going to rent a cage?

It will definitely be more fun on 2 wheels, although I'll say this, what is said of Italian drivers - and riders - it's an understatement.

Oh well. I'll bet the cruise will be quite nice.

LOL...would love to have a bike and all but we are actually heading to the area for a mediterranean cruise leaving out of rome. We will have a ton of luggage etc. so the logistics call for a car :-)

I heard that drivers are nuts over there...Do you think it is reallly as bad as they say?

Cheers

I was about 30 minutes into Italy coming south over St. Gotthard's approaching a relatively small town, 2 up on a bmw r1200rt that had lost the abs modulator - no abs. You could tell the difference in driving mentality in the south of Switzerland. By the time we got to the first couple of small towns we'd been buzzed by several scooters, and we weren't dawdling by any stretch.

The words "free for all" come to mind. I forget the town, but they had 'stacked roundabouts' - one almost right after the other. The GPS had me going straight, so I barely broke right / left to keep my momentum. A scooter rider did the Rossi/show the front wheel trick on us, over the cobblestone center of the roundabout.

The wife hit the switch on the intercom, and asked if I saw that . They had no room, I was all the way on the inside, and they backed off. There was no immediate pass, so like I said - we weren't dawdling...
I'd go back in a heartbeat though. The story:
