how long will a power inverter charge my laptop?

i have a 400w power inverter plugged into a 12v battery how many hours will it chrage my laptop and still be able to start my vehicle

i have and after market radio and i like to hook my laptop up to it and i need to have it plugged in all the time so its always charging and i would like to leave it plugged in all day if possible

my school days are generally 7 to 8 hours sometimes a little more

will it chrage my laptop that whole time and still be to start my pickup when school gets out

It is recommended that you don't use your vehicle battery for more than 30 minutes while the engine is off.
 
most laptops cant last more than 5 hours at 100% charge, and these are the high range batteries.

the normal amount is near 2-3 hours for brand new machines from hp or dell

and the power inverter makes your cigarette lighters voltage from DC to AC the 400W is the amount of stuff you can plug in and itll still keep everything running connected to it.

charging a battery can take anywhere between 10 minutes to a couple hours depending on the battery. chances are if you drain your laptop battery completely it will take closer to 1 or 2 hours to charge it back up to 100%.

also best do a test run how long your battery at 100 percent power will last on a single charge and thats how long itll last normally. how long it takes to charge has a whole bunch of things attached... just drain it down to nothing and plug it in and charge it if youre in windows itll let you know about your battery stats in the tab thing next to the time.
 
You should only use it while engine is running. Any time engine isnt running your draining you pickup battery, It will only charge laptop until laptop is charged, however it will still draw something and continue to drain your battery. Plug it in when driving, unplug when you shut engine off.
