I'm well aware of the influence of Arabian and Islamic culture on sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the Arabic influence on some of the native languages there. But in my readings it often seems like the cultural influence has long been a one way street. Certainly, black Africans must have influenced Arabs in some ways. In which ways have black Africans influenced the Arabs?
Anoshora, they were also brought to the Americas as slaves and have had a profound influence on the culture of both Latin America and North America. This is especially true of music, and dance, and the influence is so strong it is hard to imagine American music without the Afro-American influence.
One of the reasons I am asking this is because we often hear about people in the U.S and Europe being racist against Arabs and other Middle Easterners. While there is bigotry against Middle Easterners, we often don't hear about how racist many Arabs are against Africans, and how this may be one of the causes of the war in Sudan. It seems to be mainly a race war - the Arab-Sudanese northerners consider the southern "black" Sudanese are "savages".
