Last night I brought my first telescope out to view Mars. I was so excited in the beginning, but I was little disappointed when I only saw a bean like orange dot through the lense and it was so fuzzy. I don't know if it was the problem of me or the telescope?
The telescope has 102 mm apperture and 1300 mm focal length. I'm just wondering how far can I view with it and what should I expect to see with this telescope? Can I see M31 or some nebulas with it? ((
Fuzzy views can be due to sky condition, and other factors. It can also be due to your telescope (but I'm not saying it is). There is virtually no distance limit (actually there is, but that is for another discussion), only brightness limit. Yes you can see M31 even with your naked eye on a dark sky site. Nebulas? Definitely Yes. Try M42 and M8, they are some of the easiest to find for a beginner. Better get yourself a star map like Cartes du Ciel.
Your Apex is a pretty good scope. My friend have an Apex 127mm and it's great.
