Some sub woofers ask for a specific tuned box or sub woofer box. This one sub woofer prefers to be at 37 Hz or something

The tuning frequency is calculated based on a number of factors. These are a) the internal volume of the enclosure (any displacement and the port is not included) b) the length of the port and c) the cross sectional area of the port.

The tuning frequency should be tuned based on what specific sub you are using and what type of sound you are looking for. If the manufacturer recommends 37Hz then tune at that frequency or have a custom design made for your sub that allows for the sound you are looking for. 37Hz is typically a high tuning frequency for most subs so it may not neccissarily be the best for the sound desired. Tuning lower will usually help enhance the sound quality of your sub.

You need a cross sectional area that is large enough for the sub you are using. If the cross sectional area is too small you will have port noise.

Good Luck!!!
