how do you know what size compacitor to get for you car audio?

i have two rockford fosgate 12's. there are 500 rms by 1000 watts. i have a 2400 mono block amp running them.. any help?

when i turn up the volume my lights dim.. my speakers bump so much they run my battery dead when it is on. Every time i try to charge it, it loses it once i start listening to music. I dont know if i should buy a compacitor or a bad ass battery.. aslo to let you know i have a 91 acura integra hatchback, so the battery i am using is for a compact car
i planned on getting a better battery... would this help this?
 
A cap will not help. The capacitor only stores power which mean to get rid of the dimming lights you either get a better battery or a new alternator. Maybe both. By the way when your car is on your system gets its power from the alternator when the alternator can't send out as much power as your amp requires thats when the battery comes in and helps the alternator supply the power needed and all this is what causes your lights to dim. The capacitor i basically a battery that just stores the power its not going to help produce any power.

I had a cap at one point and it was just another thing the alternator had to keep charged. My lights never stopped dimming.

So your best bet is save some money and buy a better alternator and a better battery.
 
It sounds like you are overloading your Acura battery. You should not buy a bad battery***. Your "compacitor" does not exist. You may want a "CAPACITOR" but I don't know what for. A "CAPACITOR" can be big or little, expensive or cheap. A capacitor is an electrical device to store an electrical charge. Turning up the volume could overload your battery because of the electrical current needed to drive your big 12 inch speakers. If you bought a big new fully charged battery, you might be able to play music but not for long because of the big overload on your electrical system. You will also have to get a new bigger alternator to recharge your new battery. You would be wise do consult with an audio specialist.
