How do you get your kids to stop whining about their homework?

And just do it. Letting them whine about too much homework is setting a bad precedent and will not prepare them for the real world.

My son has ADD & dyslexia. I know what you mean about whining. Currently I am paying him a m&m per answer. Sure it's not long term but most kids won't know the value of homework until after high school, when colleges refuse their application. Also first kid finished with neatly done homework has no chores for the night. Talk about no whining!

We don't believe in medications. Most kids are overly medicated, poorly monitored, & misdiagnosed. We are doing a flintstone vitamin as a Placebo. He thinks it is working, and actually does better at school. The mind is very powerfully this way. I know way off question. I just wanted everyone to know even parents have to work to get the kids homework completed.

have them do a subject then take a break like 15 minutes of unrelated school stuff a walk fast checkers, talk on the phone to a friend set a timer and it will be time to do next subject if they do good reward them with a little computer time it worked for my girls, three of them and they grew up to be very good successful adults.

The best way is to let them see the benefit of learning. Bring up day to day things that will involve what they have learned and by participating in it they will feel more confident and realize that homework can be quite fun.

offer them a treat (only small) for doing it, because at that age theyre not going to ever see the benefits that it brings.

let them have a snack only when they are done
split it into parts (give them breaks in between each thing that they have to do)

The only way they will stop is once they graduate from high school... Wait no... when they finish up with college. Sad, but true.

my college professor had 2 kids and he said that the best way to get someone to stop whining was to whine back at them. he's is a communications professor and i think he theory might be true.
