how do i set up a sub to run 1 ohm 2 ohm 4 ohm and so on?

the only thing i am a little confused on about car audio is the ohm rating for example, if i have 3 dual voice coil sub woofers and i hook one coil up parrellel, which i think is 2 ohms correct me if im wrong, and the other coil i just take speaker wire and hook the positive up to the negitive, what would the ohm rating be for that, and what is the ohm rating if i hook them up in a series circuit, if somebody could explain this better or post a link i would appreciate it
