I'm not the one who installed it and I've never done this before. The car died and I want to take out the CD player before the car is junked.

Pioneer CD player (DEH-1500)
1993 Olds Cutlass Supreme
Do I have to do anything besides unscrewing the player and unplugging wires?
I'm removing the whole thing, not just the face plate.
The battery is fine and has plenty of juice, do I need to disconnect it first?

the aftermarket stereos usually have pins on the side of them that hold it in place...take a small screwdriver on both side of it and then pull it out...then take the metal bracket out as you will need that to install it into another car...don't for get to keep the wires that plug into the head unit you're going to need those...good luck

The easiest way is to park it one the street unlocked, hide in a bush and when someone steals it, rob them

In most cases you would pry it out till you see the wires then either disconect them or cut them
