How do i hook up my cars audio, and what do i need?

I want to make my car sound good. I want it to bang. How do i do it and what do i need?
clean 2001 chevy impala
dont want to spent to much , like $500
 
It partly depends on what kind of car you have which determines how many and what size subs you can fit in your car and another important factor is how much you intend to spend. A good starter setup is 2 MTX 12" Jackhammers. I have 10 12's in my truck and 4 of them are these jackhammers and they sound great. They are 250 watts rms each and 500 watts peak and cost only $100 each. You can easily get an amp for under $150 from online (Ebay,amazon,onlinecarstereo.com,etc) or you could try circuit city to get a package deal. But once again it all depends on space and the amount of money you want to spend.
