How do I dispute something on my credit report?

I closed an account with Verizon Wireless, and they sent me a bill that was 3 times the amount I owed them. So I went to the actual store to clear it up, and while doing so I recorded the conversation with the rep (in the store), and the rep she had me talk to on the phone. The amount was agreed and I request for the rep to send me that agreed balance via email and I will pay it. Needless to say she didn't, and all of a sudden this was sent to collection for the amount that was 3 times the amount owed. Now it's on my credit, and I want to know if the evidence I have (recorded conversation) is enough to sue Verizon as well as dispute the report they made on my credit? This really has caused a lot of frustration...

in most states a conversation may not be recorded without the consent of both parties.
if you sue Verizon, the judge will not let you play the tape.

Well when you closed your account I hope you kept your paperwork saying the account had been closed. If you did then go to google and type in free annual credit report and dispute it that way and send in your paperwork.
