I have a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and I'm looking to add two 6x9 speaker boxes to the back. My problem is my factory speakers are in the rear doors (I can't just split the speaker wires like I'm accustomed to doing in my previous cars) and I'm not sure where I should be looking for the speaker wire that I can run off of. I do have a factory installed amplifier underneath my back seat on the driver's side.

And does anyone have a suggestion for what gauge speaker wire I should use? Thanks.

The easiest place to find the rear speaker wiring is the factory amplifier. According to my information, the left rear speaker wires should be green/red (+) and green/black (-), and the right rear wires should be light blue/red (+) and light blue/green (-). Cut the wires and connect your new speaker wiring to the wires from the amp. 16 or 18-gauge speaker wire should be fine. Be sure to leave enough wire at the amplifier plug that you can easily connect it back to the factory speaker wiring later on.
