How Different Are The Cultures Within The US?

I work at a local hospital here in Missouri as a Radiation Therapist. (my Army days are long past) The other day my friend John says that he has something cool to show me. So we walk out to the parking lot to his truck. He opens the back door and pulls out a brand new Remington SPS tactical rifle in .308 calibur. (for those of you not in the know, a SPS tactical is basically a police sniper rifle. It's the same thing as a .308 hunting rifle but with a shorter barrel and a black stock) Anyways, we spend probably 15 minutes there in the hospital parking lot admiring his new rig. Randy, the security officer walks over. He says, "awesome!, is that the new SPS?" The three of us are now admiring the new rifle. Of course this attracts curious passersby. Soon we have a crowd of five people oogling the new rifle. Jackson, a local highway patrol officer who was at the ER entrance (and knows Randy) is one and the other is David, the CFO. Interesting scenario don't you think? That the five of us could stand there looking over an "assault" weapon in the hospital parking lot with law enforcement and administration? Not one of us ever gave it a second thought. The point of this post is to show you how very different our perceptions and cultures can be here in the US. I'd also like to know what your thoughts are.

FYI: We broke no laws by doing this. Missouri is a right to carry state.

Yeah, but you gave it a second thought, which I think shows you probably think outside the box anyway. .
 
The initial question drew me in, but the details leave me disappointed.

I do however agree that is interesting, given the location and the different people that were involved.
