How can I learn to respect the Asian culture?

Are you saying it's alright for them to beat and kill women? Why should I respect them at all? I don't hate Asians for how they look, I hate them for their traditions. Even in my Italian family, I see sexism. My grandmother has been giving my father years of hell because he couldn't produce a "male heir" like his brother did. We're not royal or anything, just a regular family! I hate her for thinking like that. My Dad has enough on his mind already. but anyways, how can I at least TRY to respect the Asian's culture? Thanks in advance.

PS- I realize I am offending some people. I am sorry if I am. You're absolutely right. It's not just the Asian culture. It's the whole world.
 
Dont if you dont respect them and there good reasons for it you shouldnt, you cant be forced to respect some one yet alone a culture as it is earned not given treat each and every one as an individual is the only advice I can give you becouse if there a sexist asswipe then u dnt have 2 like um even if that is millions of um but there are a few who dont and u might meet um. Its only todays society that is trying to force un earned respect of backwards cultures on us (not that there all bacwards) If youve valid reasons its your right NOT TO RESPECT THEM :)
 
Beating and killing women? Hmmmm...seems to me that is something that goes on in all cultures. Seems to be very prevalent in the AMERICAN culture. Do you hate Americans also. Italians are known for a stereotypical bad temper...have there never been Italians who have beat or killed in history???

I say that to say this...do you personally know anyone of the Asian race who has beat or killed someone? If you do, they your feelings should be directed at that PERSON not at a race of people who have nothing to do with that. For instance, an Asian person may say, how can I respect people of Italian nationality when they run the Mafia and kill innocent people? I think you would find that quite offensive, as it does not sound like you or your family are in the "Mafia".

Give others the same respect you want them to give you. Don't ever stereotype a group of people by the actions of some. And as for the issues with your own family, you can only control the way you behave, you cannot control your parents. You could try talking to your mother about how she makes you feel when she fusses at your father.

not all asains are like that i hope u know... ur grandma is an older asian generation and she thinks thats the normal thing bc it was so in her time. all cultures have sexism. asians are just smarter than u and will rule the world someday ..im just sayin
