people?)? nobody else's questions were like mine, so i'll just have to ask one myself.

i got upper respiratory infection like 2 years ago as a side effect of a cold. my mom took me to the hospital and the doctor, and the hospital gave me some liquid steroids and the doctor's gave me an inhaler and cough syrup to help me sleep. for the liquid steroids, i was supposed to take it twice a day for seven days. i skipped one dose in the morning by accident but made it up the next morning. the URI comes up every now and then (like when the weather drastically changes or when i haven't excercised for a while or didn't do any running). it usually lasts for about 4 days, then it goes away for about 5 weeks. i get the wheezing and the feeling of my lungs pressed up against my ribs. i'm not sure why i still have it though! i get the very throaty coughs, but not a lot of mucas. when i can't inhale a lot of air, i cough a lot. also, it makes it hard for me to walk across my school to get to class on time!

i just want to know why i still have it. and if it really is still upper respiratory infection, or something else?

thanks for any advice and answers. i really hope someone can help me. PLEASE, no short and useless answer. thanks in advance!

At this point, I would talk to your doctor about asthma or chronic bronchitis. Both can begin with an acute lung infection (most viral, some bacterial.) But repeated infections due to colds, flu, etc. will cause damage/weakness, irritation and inflammation to the airways over time and result in a chronic condition.

You need to let your doctor know, it sounds like one or the other. I have no idea how you feel about the flu vaccines but I also suggest you consider that too.

I have asthma and I know that if you get enough scar tissue built up on your lungs from a respiratory disease or condition that a side effect of that can be asthma. When you feel the tightness or burning in your chest hit the inhaler about 2 puffs and hold it, see if that helps. If it does than you know what you got! I have had asthma all my life if you learn your triggers than you can learn how to control it. Good Luck!
