How can I fix my tomtom one satnav?

Basically, I used it this morning and it was fine.
My dad went to use it tonight, and it got stuck on the home screen, instead of pressing reset, he pulled the memory card out being the dunce he is. Now it wont work. It just comes up with a screen stating the memory card is not inside. Any ideas on how i can get this to work? Im desperate as I need to get to the city centre tonight again, and i have no idea where im going. it just took me almost 2 hours to get back from there cuz i had no idea where to go :/
I can read a map. It's just not exactly practical in the middle of a town centre!
 
Can you connect it to Tomtom 'home' on the internet?

Buy an a-z and learn to read a map.
