It was in the news this week that some Toyotas have been recalled due to malfunction of the acceleration. In some cases the acceleration gets stuck and this has lead to a tragic death of a family - they played the 911 call as they were stuck at 100 mph on a hill and crashed to their death. This happened to me on the freeway a few years ago. Luckily it was stop and go traffic so I was at a low speed but I kept pressing on my breaks while the acceleration wouldn't lift up and crashed into the car in front of me. I have a 1999 Toyota 4-runner so not sure if it applied to the older models. Anyone know where I can find out?
