China could reinforce its old law to reduce the number of children it produces, and actually start giving a damn about the huge amount of emissions it releases into the air in a given year.
Look up the "Asian Brown cloud", you'll see a huge cloud of pollution from satellite photos hovering over the far east.
China has no regulations, its workers mean nothing to them, the conditions a lot of them live in are horrible, and the government does not really care that its destroying its world...
In a sense it might be said, that eventually they'll solve the problem themselves by polluting their country and region so much that they all eventually die, unfortunately that just might take us with them.
The united states and other "civilized" countries could place bans on exporting work to china and other countries with similar problems, until they fall in line with regulations similar to those of the united states and others, so that it becomes nice and expensive to manufacture in china, just like it is here..
You see the main reason so much work is going there, is china is NOT a humanitarian place, EVEN LESS than we (the usa) are, conditions there are the same as they used to be here, if you travel into their cities, you'll never see the sky, its a constant white color, from all the smog and harmful gases they release into the air.
The answer is, there is no working with them, their is only placing trade embargoes on them until they clean up their act... which will basically dissuade trade anyway, because regulations are the cause of it being so expensive to produce things here.
I might add that India also contributes to environmental degradation as well, not ALL things produced in India are made in sweat shops by 6 year old children by hand... although that certainly would be a lot more environmentally friendly.
Don't hold your breath though, EVERYTHING in this world is based off two things, Money and Greed. Greed makes the world go round, it destroys lives, embitters the non rich, and ensures that as the world spins, we all spin with it down a spiral to our own destruction, not until we wake up and cast aside our need for money where certain things are concerned (like for example government financed conversion of all motor vehicles to hydrogen based engines), will any change really occur, those that know about things, are either two few, or are careless because they see green, those that don't know, don't really want to know, and don't care.
