Horror Talk Thread

Probably been mentioned here already but the thing that first whetted my appetite for horror was seeing the original miniseries of Salem's Lot back in 1979. I was about ten and the image of Danny Glick floating at the window has stayed with me for the last 25 years. The series and book prompted a life long interest in all things vampiric/horrific - from all versions Dracula (except the dreadful Coppola adaptation) via Jessica to Death to Poppy Z Brite - way too many to mention.

Okay Numpty and purity. seems as you know a good bit about horrors. Being a Fulci Fan Myself \i love all his Zombie movies, TNYR Uncut is good for its gore but so boring really.

Have any of you seen "Slashers"? I think that is a great idea for a film and so long before ideas of "My Little Eye, Panic Room and The Contender".

Whitenoise - i rented it and watched it late one night on my own. I struggled to sleep after that.

Favourite Horror movies.

1 - Halloween
2 - Saw
3 - Aliens
4 - Jeepers Creepers
5 - ChilRAB play
6 - Poltergeist
7 - It
8 - Whitenoise
9 - Saw 2
10 - April fools day

I remember watching the others before it had been released here, my old housemate had downloaded of morpheous. After 45minutes i got up i thought it was absoloutely dire, but he was well freaked out.

Its on Sci-Fi, i have got it on my sky+ box and recorded im going to burn it to dvd soon, before my subscription runs out. It will be on sci-fi again soon. Its a good film and i enjoyed it, it reminRAB me a bit if Amityville Horror & Poltergiest, i am sure they make these up stories and i dont believe when they say based on a true story.

I thought Blair Witch was silly and not at all scary. Anyway this is my list. It is'nt in any particular order.

The Thing
The Evil Dead
Dawn of the Dead (both versions)
ThreaRAB (a true horror)
Shaun of the Dead (I liked it)
28 Days Later
Shining
The Omen
Night of the living dead (original only)
Aliens

Bad Horror films

Rabid
Basket case
Any of the chucky doll movies
Most of the stuff on the horror channel

No I didn't think so either!! haha.

It was funny if anything. How did he keep those MA-HOOOO-SIVE wings under his coat without showing any signs of abnormal shape?? hmmmm.

The Grudge freaked me out, has anyone ever seen the Japenese film "the eye"??? Oh my god the bit in the elevator scared the **** out of me!!!!!!

The Phantasm franchise cracks me up every time. The tall man and his band of evil little dwarves plus Reggie the Ice-cream man's facial expressions, on a par with Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead trilogy!

The Others is a great film :)

Tell you one that I thought was so Boring "What Lies Beneath". Now that was Dire. Oh and "Hollow Man"

I forgot about that - that was an excellent film. Simple & Original.

I liked Descent as well, but didn't rave over it. I guess the downbeat ending worked for me though.

I also remember a film called "Witchboard" from about 20 years ago which I liked, although I haven't watched it since, so it may well turn out to be rubbish !!

And I can't comprehend the sort of person who would find Blair Witch scary. I get the whole idea that it's supposed to work on your subconscious and make you scared of what "might" be out there, but they gave you absolutely nothing to work with.

Not even a passing glimpse of something, a shadow or anything. I can only guess that it would work on people who are overly suggestive ??
