I could write a very long list, but I'll try to keep it short:

Monster Movies:

The Thing
Alien
Aliens
Jaws
American Werewolf

Ghosts and Spooks:

Poltergeist
Amityville (original)
The Others
The Haunting (original)
The Fog (original)
Ring and Ring 2 (Japanese)
The Grudge (Japanese and US versions)
Evil Dead 1 and 2
The Exorcist
Hellraiser
The Shining

Slashers:

Elm Street 3
Halloween
Texas Chainsaw (original)
Saw

Unsettling / Disturbing / Weird

Tetsuo
Eraserhead
Blue Velvet
Videodrome
The Omen (original)
Jacob's Ladder
Don't Look Now
The Vanishing (Dutch version)

I'm not sure if The Vanishing qualifies as horror, it's more of a thriller, but it's deeply disturbing, perhaps in a similar way to films like Funny Games.

Great. One to Watch. Is it available in the rental shops? I could try Ebay for it I suppose.

Oh is there a badly cut copy of it around that I need to avoid getting? Cut films annoy me so much.

there's a new mini-series just started in the USA called Masters of Horror which is 13 stand alone episodes directed by famous horror directors like Tobe Hooper, John Landis & John Carpenter - its a bit like tales of the unexpected updated - there's been 4 episodes so far and its really good

Smoo, I love the ice cream conversation in the car where Baby says she wants ice cream and Otis is telling her no way then Captain Spalding (who I was glad had a much bigger role in Devil's Rejects) pipes up "Tutti f****** fruity, that sounRAB good" and the bit where Captain Spalding steals the car and says that he is off on Top secret clown business. Classic!

I have never had a nightmare after watching a film im an adult!
I wasn't even that scared watching it! but I'll never watch it again! :(

To the complete opposite what was the most pathetic horror film you've seen?
Mine has to be the village !

It was unbelievebly crappy!

OK here my random comments:

House Of Wax: The funniest horror movie Ive ever seen

Nightmare On Elm Street: My favourite horror movie

The ring 2- Most boring horror ever

The Exorcist- most disgusting horor movie

Saw- most original horror plot

Scream trilogy- most predictible hottor movie

Hi,

Has any of you got the USA UNCUT Version of I Spit On Your Grave?
Ive seen it on Ebay but its pricey.

Also (If this version is possible to get) The full UNCUT Version of The Last House On The Left (With the full Intestine Scene intact). Though I am not sure that they were ever able to release it on film anywhere.

Yeah, me too! I like it when Baby sort of shoves the ice cream in his face, and because they're family and what-not, you can see he loves her really and so just kind of puts up with it, which is strange to watch after all the psycho shit you've seen him do!

And yeah, Captain Spaulding is mega! The only thing I didn't like was when he cleaned his makeup off toward the end! He's way better with it on. :D

More, more!

'Chinese, Japanese, dirty knees, look at these!'

The Ring
Hellraiser 1 & 2
Event Horizon
The Omen
A Nightmare on Elm Street
The Exocist
Saw

I think these are all my favourites, i'll have a think on a few more.

I would put the Texas Chainsaw Massacre on there but i think it was overhyped by the time i saw it, i much prefered the new version of it simply because it had Jessica Biel in it :p .

Yeah, I found Jeepers Creepers very scary until they showed the actual Creeper. He was just too comedic.

My most crappy horrors have been:

Ring Two (remake)
Lake Placid
Last House On The Left (supposedly a classic/cult shocker)
Session 9
Resident Evil 1 and 2
The Village (yaaawwwwnnnn)
The Last Horror Movie

I won't put a massive list down right now, but I will give an honourable mention to Wolf Creek which was out about two months ago now.

Different from a vast avriety of horror movies, nothing supernatural, nothing remorseful. (Also similar in some ways....)

Although it was seen as a little slow to get going the second half, the horror half was well directed, acted and a really nasty twist of the knife if you will at one point...

Totally agree with you there. I also watched I Spit on Your Grave last night and was disappointed in that too. I got to the end and couldn't help but wonder why on earth it was banned for so long (much like LHOTL)

Agree with most of the favourites already mentioned, loved:

Creep
Hellraiser I and II
28 Days Later
Saw
Nightmare on Elm Street (although looks very dated now)
Poltergeist
Event Horizon
Alien

and many others I can't think of right now!

Oh it was sometime back that I looked for it not recently. To near christmas for me to be buying things for myself.

The only place I saw it for sale was from the States itself.
I will get round to getting it one day.

I'm intrigued. I watched The Exorcist 3 the other night and was thoroughly bored by it. What do you like about the film that makes it your number one horror?

I should elaborate a bit since I've slagged it off! I just didn't think much happened in the film. There wasn't any suspense in the film (other than a scene in a confesional box) to put me on edge and the story seemed a bit ridiculous.

I'm not a huge gore fan, so the last thing I want people to do is accuse me of not enjoying a film that doesn't include slicing and dicing...

I think a top five for me would be:

1. The Grudge (cacked me up for some reason)
2. What lies beneath
3. Scream
4. The Shining
5. Alien

Nothing that I like more than a good horror. Well here I go but they are not going to be in particualr order of favorites otherwise that will take me for ever swapping, changing then remembering another.

hELLRAISER 2
