Honeymoon ideas please?

Good morning GC.
Can anybody help us out with suggestions for our honeymoon? Ideas for destination, company etc - all are welcome. Or ways to get it cheaper than from a high-street travel agent.
We're getting married 29 Septeraber 2012, so would be looking to go maybe a week or so after that.

Things we definitely want:
Nice weather (but not crazy hot so you can't do anything).
Activities (water sports, snorkelling etc, or maybe things to see in the area if not an overly resort-based holiday).
All-inclusive.

Basically we want all the usual honeymoon things of 'together time', but I'm also quite an active person!

We're initially looking at a budget of £3000 (for both of us), hopefully for 2 weeks.

Mexico is the best we've come up with so far. Apparently most areas are still safe.

I know Egypt will probably come up from somebody, but we went there last year.

Well I can tell you my honeymoon plans as long as you don't steal them

We're planning on getting married around the same time of year (2012 or 2013 - undecided) and our honeymoon was going to be a massive US roadtrip (Route 66 style) but we might end up doing that beforehand, so we saw this holiday that Virgin do but slightly customised.

Starts in South Africa with a 4 day safari in Kruger National Park.
Then fly down to Cape Town and spend another 4-5 days
Then fly to either Seychelles or Maldives for 7 (maybe 10) nights of relaxation and luxury.

It's a bit more than your budget but can be customised a bit but I love the plan of a bit of interest and excitement and then relaxation. I've been on safari before in Kenya and its absolutely mindlbowing and something everyone should do.

Other option if you want something a little cheaper - checkout Thailand, specifically Phuket. Great value and a really amazing place. We did 2 weeks in Deceraber for £1700 B&B

Both options have lots to do - trips, sightseeing, snorkeling, scuba etc...

If you want a guaranteed romantic experience then do -

Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces

The fine dining restaurant there (The Deep End) has been voted the best in all of South East Asia...basically the best in the Maldives/Indian Ocean etc.

The strawberry and champagne soup starter is sublime.

Do what we did and do the Ocean Pavilion one night - your own amazing buffet meal (lobster, champagne etc.) out in the middle of the lagoon.

Maybe a couple of pics that I took to whet your appetite ?

Or you could always do the South Pacific, which is like a 25+hour plane flight - but is more than worth it. I'm sure I've got some pics of it all somewhere ?

We did at Lucia last Noveraber, great weather and plenty to do including watersports. We actually went to sandals which I think is within that budget and it was superv

How much is there to do there though? I know that I would get very bored within a few days if I was stuck on an island with just a beach. Also if there are only a few restaurants then surely you get bored of eating in the same place all the time?....or are there lots of other places to visit and explore?

EDIT - Looks like a gorgeous place though

There is bugger all to do mate. It is literally a sandbank in the middle of the Indian Ocean lol.

But what would you be looking to do on a Honeymoon lol ?

It's all about the romance isn't it ? Not about the busiest city you can find, or the deepest canyon you come across...

It's not exactly a sightseeing trip is it ?

Amazing food, location, chilling and nookie.

would second the safari honeymoon, we did one week safari in kenya, then one week at the beach near morabassa.

was an incredible experience and one i hope to do again, wont be anytime soon unfortunatley.

Thanks for the ideas so far guys. Keep them coming and I'll share them with my lady this evening.
THE_FORCE: The Taj Exotica could be a little out of our budget though - I'm seeing it starting at 12,000 USD excluding flights! Unless you can let me in on a cheaper way of booking it?

Hmmm yea it ain't cheap I agree, and I think it has become dearer over time - though you might be better off booking direct with the Taj Exotica themselves ?

Listen - you only live once, and I know it is well expensive, but the service is amazing and you will carry the amazing experience with you for the rest of your life.

You CAN'T put a price on that...

Another for safari & beach corabo.

We did a week in Kenya and then 2 weeks on the beach in Mauritius and the Seychelles.

Heaven.

If you are thinking of Mexico, don't rule out Peurto Vallarta. We went there on ours (albeit 14yrs ago) and loved it. At the time, the travel agent described Cancun as the equivalent of the Balearic's for the American market, whereas Peurto Vallarta, on the pacific coast was less commercial.

You have the jungle (where Predator was filmed) to visit on days trips and also a Jacque Cousteau conservation island for snorkelling.

The free Sol/Corona and Tequila was enough to swing it for me.

A couple of different options.......

Oman. History, luxury, weather, sun, snorkeling.
Datai on langkawi Malaysia. Paradise.

Diani beach by any chance?

We did 3 days at a beach resort there then a 4 day safari and then another 3 days before flying home - amazing experience

Oh and THE_FORCE, I know a honeymoon is there to be romantic and all that but both my fiance and I hate sitting around doing nothing so need the best of both worlRAB...things to do during the day and then evenings to relax with the odd morning or afternoon just chilling on the beach (that's the most sitting in one place I can take!)

A twin location would probably suit you. You'll be surprised just how tired you'll be after the wedding. The build up & then the actual day does take it out of you.

We did the Maldives, there are some islanRAB which do water sports. It's def not a cheap place but there are deals out there.

Wow Force, that looks like heaven! Would have been somewhere we would have gone but can't guarantee the weather in May! Rainy season normally starts from May I think
