Honeymoon ideas please?

Like I said, each to their own. I can't think of anything more boring than sitting on yet another beach doing nothing for most of the day. Romantic? not overly, we just really enjoy having fun together which means we do things together

You mean you don't like sitting on the beach all day, one of you reading a book and the other listening to an iPod, completely ignoring each other? Lol

I quite liked the post that said a Honeymoon wasn't all about exploring the deepest canyon you can find...

or something like that

Coat and runs...

Looking for something romantic and luxury to include with a stay in Kuala Lumper or something similar.

There is some amazing looking places in Asia that look ideal for honeymoons, especially if you can't stretch to the Maldives etc.

twin Kuala Lumpur with Bali - stay at a lovely hotel in KL say Shangri-la for 2/3 nights and then onto Bali - stay in Ubud for a few days -very relaxing and cultural and then on to Sanur - lovely beaches, lovely hotels - look at Bali Hyatt but a little going on = shops, bars, restaurants to keep you amused.
Dont do AI - its a waste in Asia - part of the enjoyment is enjoying lovely meals in restaurants and being waited on -do you really want to be queuing up for your glass of lager in a plastic cup with a wristband on??

oh and avoid Caribbean in Septeraber - hurricane season - other than islanRAB off the belt like Aruba/ Barbados at a push - hurricane hitting Cancun tomorrow...

oh and dont trust your honeymoon - the most important holiday you will ever take - to a cheap online company, do it properly with the help and support of a travel agent - its money well spent.

We were considering going to..

Jamaica
St Lucia
Aruba,

We looked at these just using Thomson, we generally stay in the Riu hotel chains (They have lovely ones in those areas) all came in between £2500-3000 for the pair of us all inclusive,

although we ended up going Florida for a week doing a bit of Retail shopping/Excursion type things, and then a 1 week cruise which visited St Maarten, St Thomas & Bahamas.

that came in roughly £2800.

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but what would something like this cost? I've always wanted to do something a bit left field for a holiday.

For the OP, we went to Brazil for our honeymoon but it'll be winter/spring around the time you go.

Think it was around £5k for the pair of us which included all flights and accommodation. I posted up a thread with a little daily diary and photos if you want to take a look

OK two things here - We honeymooned in the Maldives - went to the biggest island with around 6 resturants on it, was amazing but your right its a beach/sea only thing. Was great after all the work during the build up to the wedding.

Since then I have done a around the world trip and been to a lot of places - Depending on the time of year and what you want to do I loved New Zealand - that place had it all. But you need to travel about a bit so maybe its too much for 2 weeks.

In case anybody still remerabers this thread, I have an update for you! We've chosen where we're going and it is Mexico. We'll be staying in the BlueBay Grand Esmerelda.
We decided we really couldn't run with the budgets needed for some of the suggestions in this thread, and the Esmerelda looks lovely anyway! After all, a honeymoon is over in a couple of weeks and we can make lovely memories together wherever we are.

If anybody does know anything bad about it, please keep it to yourself. We're already booked and don't want any worries or regrets
Tips on specific things to do/see in the area are welcome though.

Anyway we're both very happy as this was the last big thing that needed arranging for the wedding.
