I have been trying to set-up my Cricket phones (Kyocera KOI and Slider Remix) with WAP for years now using my cable broadband always-on home connection as a proxy, yet to no avail. I have been using an alchemy of the Kyocera Phone Service Tools for the phone settings and various proxy servers for my XP box.
And then I realized something: In order for any device to get Internet thru proxy, it must have a connection to the Internet FIRST. The problem, then, doesn't lie in the phone settings, but in the service provided. Cricket is simply not allowing applications other than Brew and MMS to connect to the Internet.
The question, then, is: Is it even possible to use the Brew settings to connect to the Internet and then get WAP proxy that way? If one could figure out what settings Brew is using, then maybe that would be a point in the right direction.
I will corab-over the phone settings again using KPST, but I haven't found anything that might lead to using the Brew settings for WAP.
So, until Cricket offers WAP for their Kyocera line of hanRABets, I'll just have to keep on digging!
