Wrong. The same law was already in the federal books. The fear mongering came from those who opposed the new law. If there wasn't such an outcry, it would have been business as usual.

pass a law to enforce a law... brilliant

how about in 3-5 years when this dies down and the agencies start getting too complacent again.. pass another law to pass the law that enforces the law

Well, it's not as silly as it sounds. The new AZ law synchronizes state law with federal law and so empowers state and local police to enforce it. Previously they technically didn't have jurisdiction.

I've said this before... this was basically just a couple of local/state government faggots that wanted to make regional news and get votes because "they are tough on immigration" and it just snowballed out of control

the whole thing is retarded, because while the immigration laws targeting the actual illegals do need to be enforced

people forget that there are also laws in the books for the businesses that employ illegals however you hardly ever see the business fined the maximum amount [if they even get fined at all] because that would directly affect the owners of said businesses that contribute to the campaign funds on both sides of the debate

all it would really take to stop illegal immigration is to fine and make an example out of businesses that employ illegals so other companies would refuse to hire people that can't show proper documentation and not the BS borderline credible fake documents that a lot of companies claim they believed in good faith were legit documents

no available jobs = no illegals = mass exodus back south of the border
