I ordered the Hifonics Txi 1008D amplifier and the site accidentally gave me the Hifonics Bxi 1208D amp, it was an upgrade so i said hey why not. So after installing everything and turning the radio on..i hear no sound from the subs. First thing that came to mind was defective amp (was not my first time installing an audio system btw). After two hours of trouble shooting and taking the HU out and checking the RCA and checking the grounds etc...i concluded that it was indeed the amp that was defective. So i called up the site and explained what happened and that i wanted a refund and the guy tells me that the amp needs a mono signal to work and that if i put a Y splitter on one of the RCA leads and plug it into the amp that it would work. I did that and still nothing plays.

Am I missing something here? does the HU need to supply the mono signal? or do i need a different kind of Y splitter that changes the stereo signal to mono? If i can get this thing to work im gonna keep it ,if i dont then im gonna return it but not sure if they will take it back since i already installed it.

Any help is greatly appreciated Thank You.
You didnt even answer my question..I have heard many good things about hifonics and they are a good amp maker, and their brutus line of amps are great too.

Send it back and get a decent amp. HiFonics is junk now days. The old school stuff (Series VIII and earlier) is good. They are riding on the rep from back then.

Good brands, including but not limited to: Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, JL Audio, Soundstream, ARC Audio, Cadence, Diamond Audio, Focal, Dayton (subs), Precision Power, some MTX, RE audio, Fi car audio, Sundown Audio, Hertz, MB Quart, Zapco, Infinity, Incriminator Audio, Missing Link Audio, JBL, Mach5, Ascendent audio, and DC sound labs, Digital Designs, Pioneer Premier; old school brands: Lanzar, Hifonics, Orion, and Phoenix Gold.

Mediocre brands (brands that are good for the money, but there is better): Quantum Audio, Sony ES line, Memphis (I have heard of lot’s of problems with their amps), Dual, Infinity (in my opinion), Pioneer, Kenwood (in my opinion).

Junk brands, including, but not limited to: Pyramid, Boss, Profile, Lanzar (except old school Lanzars), HiFonics (again except old school, series VIII and earlier), Legacy, American Pro, Rampage, MA Audio, Alphasonik, Crunch, Lightning Audio, Visionik, Audiovox, Volfenhag, Rockwood, Jensen, American Legacy, Audiobahn, SPX, Sony Explod line, VR3, JVC, Pyle. Any thing at Wal-Mart, or an auto parts store.
