1) What do you think about the idea of a cultural fashion show?
i think it's a good idea, not an original idea, but definitely would be a popular choice for anyone who wanted to attend.
2) Do you think ethnic minorities are under-represented in fashion?
not in todays society, no. i believe that due to globalisation and resources such as the internet, fashion is influenced by many different cultures around the world..past and present. even down to prints and materials, fashion does represent an array of cultures.
3)Should cultural clothes be presented on its own or mixed together and why?
eg. by together i mean - a person wearing an asian dress and african printed scarf together
i think they should be mixed together tastefully....to represent the world and to eliminate the idea that cultures are under represented in fashion today. it would be more symbolic to mix the two in a way that is understandable to people...what people will get.
4)Who would be the audience of a cultural fashion show?
in my opinion, the youth of today (teenagers) have a very high interest in cultural fashion shows, and will participate if needed. i also believe that people of different cultures within the country u are in would be interested to know that their culture is being represented and included.
5)Can this show offend anyone?
only bigoted racist people i guess! with todays society as it is, a fashion show is hardly the biggest shock factor in the world, theres worse problems than a fashion show..and the show should be workingh to integrate more cultures and members of cultures inti society. social inclusion shouldnt really be offending anyone. if it does..so what? things wont ever change, and fashion is a big stepping stone for change, just look at fashion throughout history and how much controversy has been caused over what people wear.
6)What improvements or suggestions do you have regarding a cultural fashion show?
dont forget to include the country that would be hosting. it would seem a little disrespectful to call it a cultural show and forget the dominant culture of that community!
