HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

I work at an after-school tutorial program at a music school and we're adding a music appreciation/theory segment to our programming.

I'm developing a list of songs to play a "name that tune/artist" game. If you were going to present music presenting important songs and artists in the African American history, what would you choose? Keep in mind all selections have to be "G" rated and present positive ideals.

Hello, I want to purchase several albums for a middle-aged black man originally from Atlanta. I don't know what to buy for him because I am not really familiar with the genres that he likes. I would like some help please.

The best information that I have comes from the list of albums that I see he already has. Can anybody please offer any recommendations for albums that he might enjoy based upon what he apparently already enjoys?

I would greatly appreciate it, truly. I am looking to pick up about 10-20 albums.

Here is the list of the man's current collection:

Bishop Paul S. Morton Sr. - We Offer Christ
Donald Byrd - Black Byrd
Earth Wind & Fire - Illumination
George Duke - Duke
George Duke - Face the Music
Hubert Laws - Romeo & Juliet
Kem - Kemistry
Najee - Best of Najee
Roy Ayers - Ubiquity
Roy Ayers - Everybody Loves the Sunshine
Steely Dan - Aja
Third World - Ain't Giving Up

Thank you in advance for your help! I'm really looking for the highest-quality stuff that will "wow" him!

Harry Nilsson (everybodys talking), John Denver. LIGHT country, melodic stuff. It doesn't necessarily have to be country, it can be folk as well. Genres don't matter. I like acoustic, guitars, lap steel, and sweet voices. All this stuff was before my time by a mile, so I have some catching up to do. Thanks!

I think I have only ever heard one Ryan Adams song, and I don't even remeraber what it was called, it was kinda nice, tuneful, enjoyable... but obviously it didn't move me to love his stuff....

SounRAB like you might be interested in something like Lightning Bolt, it's a noise rock duo, and there are vocals but they're used sparingly and are far from conventional. I have Wonderful Rainbow.. good stuff.. I'd suggest finding it if you can.
