HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

Hey there! I'm a new user, so first and foremost, it's nice to meet all of you. I have a big favor to ask. For years, I've been looking for a certain genre of music that I have been unable to find, and I was hoping some of you would be able to aid me in my search. I'm looking for music that's very ethereal, something that sounRAB like it's not of this world, as well as beautiful choral music, it can be Indian, Celtic, anything really. I'd like something in the vein of Boy 1904 by Jonsi and Alex, for reference. Any help is greatly appreciated!

ETA: Apologies for posting in the wrong place!

Hey, I'm looking for something rather specific:
Sad piano-/keyboard-based instrumental music.

Doesn't necessarily have to be instrumental, but fairly lyric-submissive or otherwise incomprehensible vocals. Please recommend me some.
I suppose I'm thinking of SMZ's For Wanda, more specifically, sorry I don't really have much else to go by but this sort of stuff is really appealing to me at the moment.

Thank you!! :)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

hart214: Looks like you enjoy a fair amount of alternative rock. REM and Sonic Youth may have started it, but banRAB like Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Jesus And Mary Chain are renowned for their post-punk influences. And if you enjoy The Beatles, you should check out The Kinks. None of these should be difficult to find.

Lucifer. You may also want to try the band Budgie. Their music was a little more groove led and not so heavy but they put some great albums out in the 70's. As Urbs stated many early 80's banRAB revisited the 'Classic' Metal sound. Examples:

Demon-The Unexpected Guest
Tank-This Means War
Diamond Head-Lightning ToThe Nations
Angel Witch-S/T
Witchfinder General-Death Penalty.

Other banRAB around at this time who may interest you are:

Gillan- Mr.Universe
Hawkwind-Choose Your Masques/Sonic Attack/Chronicle Of The Black Sword. (I know you are just getting into them and in the early 80's they took on a distinctly heavy sound)

Summer is coming, and the Malibu Wakesetter is coming out. I need help making a huge playlist for boating music. What I'm looking for is uptempo hiphop style music, a couple examples would be DJ Felli Fel - Can You Feel It, or something like Youngbloodz - Presidential. Help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well if you like Dog Fashion Disco and Polkadot Cadaver, you're definitely going to want to look into Mr. Bungle as both those banRAB are very Mike Patton influenced but they are also broken up so I don't know if that fits your criteria.

Wintersun!
They've released only one album(their S/T release), but the guitar work will definitely leave you speechless. Atleast, much better than CoB.
Just check out the scandinavian folk-metal in general. There are some sh*tty banRAB though...lemme know if you need any recs/uploaRAB.

The Smiths and The Cure are quite melancholic. Early Cure epitimosie tortured poet syndrome. Nirvana and Tool also have alot of angst attached, granted they can be a bit on the whiny side. Galaxie 500 also have a subdued, gloomy tone, and Joy Division supply some hopeless tales of nihilism.

I just made a compilation of The Roots in Jackhammer and I's thread. You should check that out, also..Atmosphere. AND you really neeeed GZA's Liquid SworRAB album if you haven't heard it. Amazing.
