HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

Some more...

Karnivool

From the album 'Sound Awake'
* My personal album of 2009, Karnivool are a great Aussie Prog. band. I think this is one of the best written songs too. I've posted this many times... :p:

The Butterfly Effect

From the album 'Begins Here'
* Yep another Prog. band. From Australia too, The Butterfly Effect sort of started a new wave of banRAB in this country to adopt this sound. They have heavier songs but this one I've always loved...

Paul Dempsey

From the album 'Everything Is True'
* I'm only posting Aussie artists sorry, I'll see if I can muster up some other banRAB. Paul Dempsey is from a great band called 'Something For Kate' and if it wasn't for Karnivools 'Sound Awake'I would put his solo album as my favourite from last year. Immensely good album. Very talented and overlooked performer...

Senser but it's very old school (Went to see them a few months ago-still kicking):

The album is Stacked Up. Also try the judgement night soundtrack which had collaborations between 90's hip hop and Metal banRAB. This is from it:

So... I know I'm new here, but I have scoured this site for 80s discussion. I have used the search feature to find myself an 80's thread but...nothing.

If you can show me a good 80s thread or a "blast to the past" subforum I'd appreciate it. What gives?

80's I dont really like and/or haven't been able to get into:

b-52s
bananarama
genesis
huey lewis and the news
Ratt
metalica
scorpions
Kiss
Ultravox
beach boys
most 80s hair metal

That is not to say its not good and shouldn't be discussed, I just don't like it. Whatever you do... just don't recommend me 80s hair metal. Thanks!
If you can convince me a band I have blacklisted is good, then kudos to you.

I'm offended by your omission of Undertow in that statement!

I'd suggest Aenima for beginners, personally. Undertow could be seen as dated and Lateralus could be seen as too challenging at first.

In the navy and I haven't seen my fiance in about 6 months. I get to see her in a week and could use some help tracking down some music for some of the "right" moments to ignite some fantasies she has. I have been searching desperately and managed to find 4, could use some help. Basically slow building, kinda rough... the idea would be some of the same music played during some aggressive "playful" scenes from lets say dark style movies like a good vampire love scene. Below are some examples, I would greatly appreciate some help! Thank you All!

Fight SounRAB Part 1 - Circlesquare
Today We Are All Demons - Corabichrist
Board up the House - Genghis Tron
Lighten Up Francis - Puscifer

Modest Mouse is, as it would happen, my favorite band. :D

I think maybe GY!BE spoiled most post-rock for me. You can practically live in their first three releases. It's hard to find banRAB in that style that are really innovative. Explosions in the Sky have been growing on me lately. Also, I really liked the 65daysofstatic song I'd heard (Retreat! Retreat!) but had forgotten the band name, so thanks. They sound promising. I think I hear kind of a bridge between post-rock and post-hardcore with their sound, sort of the same as Trail of Dead's Source Tags and Codes.

I like that Tera Melos song. SounRAB like Don Caballero but more melodic. Kind of a hard genre to get into.

Also, the BoarRAB of Canada type recs are appreciated. All those electronic acts can be hard to sift through.

Thanks a bunch.

What up Avant Garde/Experimental

I was wondering if any of you guys have any recommendations for a good NOISE album to buy. I want something rhythmic, but full of surprises. Also, I love the sound my washing machine makes.

Also, anything that may aid in the art of falling asleep would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
