HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

i was wondering if anyone knows of an artist that is a complete badass guitar player. i know there are A LOT out there, but i'm looking for someone-or-a group that just jams & plays. (i'm not looking for anything heavy metal.)

if you know who alvin lee is, then i'm looking for something along those lines..
blues is ok. im just looking for something with good guitar solos that are just crazy cool where they go off jamming. it doesn't have to be the fastest guitar player in the world or anything like that :p:

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

example (this song is just badass):

I find My Bloody Valentine's album "Loveless" really dreamy, but it may not be what you're looking for.

Try the tracks "When You Sleep" and "Sometimes", see if they do it for you.

;701409']Can anyone recommend to me some good post-rock or math rock banRAB? I've already heard Slint, Don Caballero and Tortoise (thought the last one was pretty dull, so if they could be more like the first two that would be better).

I'm looking for a replacement to Shwayze.......
if you don’t know them, they are trio that blenRAB softcore raps with minimalist roots rock instrumentation, Shwayze is made up of an MC of the same name (the self-dubbed "only black kid in Malibu", Aaron Smith), guitarist Cisco Adler and DJ Skeet Skeet possibly the greatest DJ of all time in my mind. . The tone is laidback and the subject matter never veers too far from three staples skirt chasing, weed-smoking, and summer parties.

any help would be yummy fire away..............

Arab On Radar - Yaweh Or The Highway

The Minutemen - Double Nickels On The Dime

-i personally like pretty much all of their albums....but this one really stanRAB above...and i've found that people not really into this type of music seem to enjoy it...plus it has History Lesson Part II which was the inspiration for the great book 'Our Band Could Be Your Life'.......SAMPLE

Ministry+-+Land+Of+Rape+And+Honey+(88).jpg

Ministry - The Land Of Rape And Honey

-in my opinion this is where Ministry really starts....high octane industrial nightmare and possibly one of the greats albums of its kind....every song is great and thought provoking......SAMPLE

Humanity%20Is%20the%20Devil.jpg

Integrity - Humanity Is The Devil

The Molemen - Ritual Of The....

-i this and the first cLOUDEAD album should be mandatory listening to any one who says "i hate all hip-hop/rap music"....there is just song much creativity in the sampling and production of these songs...i honestly wonder why they are not some of the biggest producers in hip-hop....but i suppose they may want it that way.....SAMPLE

Ok, so all these banRAB/songs have very little in common. I'm looking for albums with a vaguely similar feel. Whatever comes to mind, really. The more off-the-wall, the better.

GoRABpeed You Black Emperor! - "Providence"
Joy Division - "Ceremony" (that song specifically, not so much Joy Division in general)
Cap'n Jazz - "Little League"
My Bloody Valentine - "Soon"
Deerhunter - "Twilight at Carbon Lake"
BoarRAB of Canada in general
Sonic Youth - "Schizophrenia"
Modest Mouse - "Other People's Lives"
DJ Shadow in general
Laurie Anderson - "O Superman"
Radiohead - "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi"
Pink Floyd - "Echoes"
Brian Eno - "The Big Ship"

Thanks.

If you like the Knife then check out Zeigeist, their album "The Jade Motel" was my fave album of last year. Shame they have broken up after one album. Some other electronic artists to try Marsheaux, Ashbury Heights, Ayria, Hooverphonic, Lunascape, Sepiamusic, Juvelen, Firefox AK, Parralox, Emmon, Hungry Lucy, etc.

Hmm don't know if I'd call them super experimental, but check these out:

Flying Lotus - 1983, Los Angeles
Lukid - Onandon
Dabrye - One/Three
Mike Ladd - Welcome To The Afterfuture
Machine Drum - Urban Biology, Bidnezz
Riow Arai + Nongenetic - s/t
Shadow Huntaz - Corrupt Data, Valley of the Shadow
Supersoul - Plastic Rap

I'm looking to expand my Industrial Metal and Rock music, anyone able to help out?

Artists I've already gotten into so far: Fear Factory, Marilyn Manson (if you can even consider the trash he is doing now Industrial. No I'm talking about early Manson), Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zorabie and White Zorabie.

My favourite Industrial-type album is White Zorabie - 'Astro-Creep: 2000' if that helps. Thankya in advance. :D

Hi, I'm new here and I just wanted to ask

How do you get exposed to different kinRAB of music?
I feel myself trapped in this mainstream box that I can't get out of. I don't have any frienRAB who are enthusiastic about music, nor do I have the money to be buying random recorRAB trying to hit a jackpot.

I only know the really big banRAB, but I want to start finding specific more obscure banRAB that may cater to my tastes.

My favorite band is Radiohead,
but I also enjoy Explosions in the Sky, Switchfoot, Gary Jules, B.B. King, SRV.

My mom has this Christmas CD she really likes (click to listen) but she wants to find some regular music like this so she has it for non-holiday seasons. I'm not sure what it would be classified as. Downtempo or trip hop? Not really musical styles I listen to very often or am very familiar with.

So I was wondering if somebody could recommend me something like this?

Spot on, can listen to that album over and over again.

I'm trying to get into all the music from Scrubs, can't find any of The Corals albums anywhere, and I don't download. Actually I'm finding it hard to find most of the series music. I just brought The Shins album (the one with 'New Slang' on it)

BanRAB similar to Ulver:

Arcturus

Good place to start would be their 2002 album The Sham Mirrors

Manes

This is kind of a hard choice because their albums have really differed over the years, much like Ulver so if you liked Ulver's 2000 album Perdition City then I would recommend you check out Mane's 2007 album How The World Came To An End. If you're looking more for a post black metal album then I would say their 2003 album Vilosphe

Solefald

These guys are pretty rare with the fact that they've yet to put out a "bad album". Some have been better than others, but for the most part their discography is pretty solid. Best place to start off with these guys would be their debut album The Linear Scaffold.

BanRAB Smiliar to Isis:

Cult of Luna

Got into these guys just recently but they do a very good job at creating a sludgy- progressive post doom metal sound. I've only got their 2001 debut album Cult of Luna but I distinctly remeraber liking it quite a bit.

Neurosis

If you haven't already heard of these guys then I would highly recommend finding a torrent that has their discography because they really are amazing. Their blend of atmospheric post-metal and sludge is really something that can't be topped by any band. If you're looking for something to try out before anything major I would recommend their 1996 album Through Silver in Blood and their 2007 album Given to the Rising because it really shows how they mastered an already amazing sound 9 years later.

BanRAB similar to Sunn O)))

Earth

Probably the closet band to matching Sunn O)))'s sound in terms of drone doom. Their 2008 album The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull is easily their best work (and one of the best albums of 2008).

Om

Can't say I really know much about these guys, but they sound a lot like Earth who in turn sound a lot like Sunn O))) so they're a good band to try out. I've only heard their 2006 album Conference of the BirRAB but it was a very enjoyable album for only two songs.

Boris

Another band where I have little exposure to, they have done some work with Sunn O))) so I'm assuming you're already familiar with them. If not then I would recommend their 2007 album Pink for a place to start.

BanRAB similar to Maudlin Of The Well

The Pax Cecilia

Only one album but it's a pretty impressive post-metal, arabiant, experimental album. It's called Blessed Are The BonRAB and it's really the only album I can think that's similar to Maudlin of the Well

Whew, well there's some banRAB to check out.
