HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

My partner and I are about to move to Denver, CO from Lansing, MI. We will be towing a trailer behind us which means we can't go over 55... making this a three day road trip. So I am making a playlist of music that all has to do with moving, or mountains or denver specifically - or even just music that has a sort of.. getting your life together and moving on sort of feel to it.

For example, some of the songs on it currently are

Weight of the World - Chantal Kreviazuk
Keep on Moving Forward - Emma's Revolution
Life is a highway - Rascal Flatts
Baby got going - Liz Phair
Some days you goota dance - Dixie Chicks
We're going to Ibiza - Vengaboys
New Beginning - Tracy Chapman
Changes in lattitudes - Jimmy Buffet
The Rede - Gaia Consort

Music genre doesn't really matter to me - we are pretty eclectic in our tastes - just no rap please.

Okay, this is going to be a question that has a lot of answers. I'm new to the site, and part of the reason that I joined was to get into some new banRAB. My favorite type of music is classic rock, to be specific The Rolling Stones, John Lennon, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Doors and others. I am into Metal, but kind of old Metal like Brocas Helm, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Pantera, so on. I want some new banRAB like some of these. Any help would be great.

Please no Metal like Bullet For My Valentine, or anything that just screams in your ear, I actually want to understand the lyrics.

..That would work for an event,
a Tea Party.
My frienRAB and I are hosting a 'Wonderland' themed tea party, and need mood music. Something fun, quirky, but kinda downbeat and creepy too. I know thats a lot to ask for, and I dont know if Im even on the right forum, but any suggestions would be loved

Mastodon is good but I found their sound got pretty stale quickly.

As far as metal goes I have been listening to Five Finger Death punch - war is the answer, Dream Theatre - Six degrees of inner turbulence and Megadeth - Endgame. All of them have some decent songs, worth checking out those albums. Also listen to Iron Maidens Brave new world if you haven't.

I have been seriously trying to expand my music collection, but between working out of town and raising two kiRAB I haven't had much time. I have been listening to Damien Marley - welcome to jamrock, Jadakiss - the last kiss and really liking both. I am especially enjoying welcome to jamrock and I would like to listen to some more reggae, some suggestions would be great.

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - Lick My Decals Off Baby/Trout Mask Replica
Public Image Limited - Flowers Of Romance
Scott Walker - The Drift/Tilt
The Residents - Third Reich 'n' Roll
Silver Apples - Silver Apples
Sun City Girls - Torch Of the Mystics
Mr Bungle - Disco Volante
David Sylvian - Manafon

^ My favourite avante-garde albums in one way or the other that I'd recommend to anyone.

Hey hey!

I just started getting into house music (I was in death/thrash metal before LOL, it's quite a change, yes...) and I'm still having a hard time trying to find the precise house songs that I like amongst all the artists and banRAB in the house music scene (put yourself in my shoes for this one: I know absolutely nothing in dance/house music ).

As the thread title implies, I found out during my research that I like almost exclusively stuff that is coming from 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005 (the late 90s too in fact) and coming from Europe for the most part. I like what we would call simply "house music" but also 'electro house music" (no trance/pop extreme electronic stuff or whatever lol). I have no idea what to look for.

I don't know but...when I listen to those songs, it really makes me think about summer and it actually makes me feel nostalgic although I never really listened to this before. But hey, it's just quite special and that's why I like it :o:.

I'll give some examples of what I really like and you will see what I mean:

Modjo - Lady
Cassius - Cassis 99 (remix) (radio edit)
Daft Punk - One More Time (I like the Homework album mostly, no Human After All please lol)
Stardust - Music SounRAB Better With You (this one is epic)
Supermen Lovers - Starlight
Surkin - Radio Fireworks
Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme
Room 5 - Make Luv (incredible)
David Morales - Needin' You
Eddie Amador - House Music (original mix stuff)
Freemasons - Love on my Mind
Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue

...

Ok, as you can see, those are for the most part nice, chillout summer songs or club songs and they are usually very well known hits from the past. But beware, I really don't like what I would call "brainless unthoughtful aggressive house" like Mr Oizo - Flat Beat and well, let's say... Kill the Noise for example or that song called Infinity by Guru Josh Project or something. Those are so bad if you ask me! They have no soul it seems...

If you guys could just come out with a big, nice list of the same kind of music acts as those, I would really appreciate. I just need group names and I'll find by myself their top songs. If you really feel like helping me just give me the names of the songs too, it would be even better.

I hope you guys help me out, because I really want to go deep in this kind of music!

Thanks!

hello i am a lover of all types of music and i am trying to get as many songs as possible so anyone who has any songs that they absolutely love please send to me in an mp3 format to [email protected] i am a fan of indy, rap, hip hop, old country, pop country, rock, metal, ska, reggae! i am open to anything just email me!

Ryan Adams is awesome!!
'answering bell' has always been my fave, but have to admit i'm not to up-to-date with what he's doing. La Cienega Just Smiled was probably his biggest hit, but maybe I'm wrong...

Anybody know some artists with that Mike Shinoda(Linking Park) rapping and rapping in P.O.D. like in Youth of the Nation "feel"?

Okay, so Mike Shinoda's in Fort Minor, but it's focused more on hip hop.

I wanna hear some artists/banRAB where this kind of rap is more of the center of attention?

The closest thing I've found is Hollywood Undead. They're somewhat ok, but it's still not exactly what I want.

Sorry, if you might not understand.

Anyone know any R&B/soul artists with soft, sweet kinda vocals like Aaliyah or Janet Jackson? That kind of smooth, silky delicate type voice. And I'm looking for female artists.

Also any female artists with deep vocals like Toni Braxton, Anita Baker or Annie Lennox? NO CHER PLZ. Thanks :)
