HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

I am trying to create a slideshow for my mother who is currently battling drug addiction. On the slideshow, there are several pictures of she and I together throughout my entire childhood. It lasts about 8 minutes, and I am trying to use the perfect background music. The initial song is The Drugs Don't Work (The Verve version). I need one or two additional songs that would fit the arabience of the video. I would prefer the same feel of the first song. I've been looking for quite some time, and I won't settle for anything that's not absolutely perfect. This video could quite possibly be her saving grace. I'm desperate! Please send any suggestions you may have. If you have any questions that would help feel free to ask! Thanks!

Basically im on the quest for new types of music.

Looking for something in the area of banRAB with a similar style to chevelle, or breaking benjamin. Its tough finding new music out there radio plays repeats.

Hello all,

For many years I have been looking for the song name of this rhythm

Can anyone shed a light?

Thank you! :)

Last week I discovered the S/T album by the Violent Femmes and I loved it, and it made me really happy that I discovered it while still technically in my teens. I only have 6 months left as a teenager, so my request is a bit specific - what are the best teen angst albums, the ones that everyone should hear while they are still a teenager? Not slit-your-wrist music necessarily, but stuff like Violent Femmes or Sonic Youth or even the earlier, rawer stuff by Modest Mouse.

Don't know how helpful my description is but if you've got something that you think fits it, let me know.

Hello all,

I am putting together a video for a friend of there vaction pictures, can anyone recommend a song? Two options I liked but have already used are Greenday - Good Riddance and 10,000 Maniacs - These Are The Days.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Byam

My faith in modern rock music is well and truly lost, I really can't seem to find many banRAB worth listening to, I keep finding horrible screamo banRAB (don't mind a bit of shouting in banRAB, but when they scream through an entire song it's like STFU.) or awful emo banRAB.

Anyone got any modern (from the 00s) banRAB worth listening to?

I also wouldn't mind any folk type stuff, in the vein of Elliott Smith or Neutral Hotel Milk. It can be a singer songwriter or a band.

Thanks to anyone who can help

Can't go wrong with those two.

Check out Mahavishnu Orchestra's - BirRAB of Fire and Inner Mounting Flame. If you haven't got them already.

If you like those four banRAB and you haven't already checked them out, Soundgarden is your friend. Superunknown would be my recommendation.

Definitely get"You're Living All Over Me"

When I started I got Bug first, then You're Living All Over Me, then Farm, and Beyond.
I stayed away from Where You Been because that was when the band wasn't really together, it was just the lead guitarist/vocalist J Mascis playing all the instruments.

TO sum things up for you
When the band was together (J Mascis, Lou Barlow, Murph they released these albums:

Dinosaur (1985)
You're Living All Over Me (1987)
Bug (1988) (when the band was starting to fall apart
Beyond (2007 when they got back together)
Farm (2009)

Albums with just J mascis:
Green Mind (1991)
Where You Been (1993)
Without A Sound (1994)
Hand It Over (1997)
