HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

Turin Brakes - The Optimist
Midnight Oil - Earth and Sun and Moon
David Byrne - Rei Momo
Ali Farka Toure & Toumani Diabate - In the Heart Of the Moon
The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour

^ Always work a treat for me. Don't ask why though.

Can someone think of a band that plays funky progressive music similar to The Mars volta only less crazy and meandering (ok, that last but is sine qua non with prog but you know what I mean).

Well, you said you wanted a horror soundtrack type stuff, so I gave you that. My bad, I shouldn't have been too literal.

How about this: Throbbing Gristle

Yeah very true about the Freestylers. I used to really be into them a few years back (probably for the same reasons), but have sorta forgotten about them till now. Got a couple of their albums DL'd here somewhere, gonna put one on now ><

Gonna go check out those others as well, thx for the reply.

Although alot of people do go kinda crazy over The Prodigy's "Fat of the Land " album... I have heard it a few times... seems pretty solid to me!

Thank you so much, Piss Me Off...I really really like the Cat Power band...can't stop listening to it now :hphones::tramp: Thanksh, thanksh a lot.

I am mainly into the Indie Rock/Alternative/Metal, Post punk/hardcore revival, Electronic/Psychedelic genres. The Killers, Say Anything, Billy Talent, The Strokes, MGMT, Papa Roach, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Linkin Park, etc

Getting bored of listening to the same songs over and over again and have for the past few weeks been searching for groups from the same genre but to not much success.

No offence to fans, but some are too slow and soft (RA RA RIOT, Cold War KiRAB) and some are boring (Pixies). Billy Talent and Breaking Benjamin have been the only revelations.

Any suggestions from my fellow music lovers?

Genius is appreciated but I'm just an old bugger with a relatively good memory. I was waiting for a lot of my Thrash stuff to transfer from my old pc to my new one and that has now been done so expect a little run soon

For Alfred (Demonoid mentioned some good ones already) so also try these:

Death Angel-The Ultra Violence
Exodus-Bonded By Blood
Testament-The New Order
Coroner-Mental Vortex
Kreator-Extreme Aggression
Sepultura-Schizophrenia

...and the greatest Thrash album ever (as PMO stated) Reign In Blood.

For punk/Hardcore tinged Thrash try:

Nuclear Assault-Game Over
S.O.D- Speak English Or Die

And if you want diversify a little more try some crossover stuff:

D.R.I-Crossover
Crurabsuckers-Life Of Dreams
Agnostic Front-Cause For Alarm
Ludichrist-Immaculate Deception

I have enough money for 1 album........what should it be? Srsly something good that I will listen to more than once, I think everyone here knows me well enough to judge what I would and wouldnt like.

I'm looking for some new progressive rock with high production quality. Lately I've been getting into more recent Marillion material and I'm wondering if there is anything else similar out there...

Hey do any of you guys have any banRAB you could reccomend for me?
Im obcessed with say anything and their lyrical sarcastic wit and would love more songs like that. but i do also like how junior varsity and angels & airwaves sound.
