HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

was anyone else at Davy Knowles' London gig last night???
he is such an awesome guitarist....

if anyone can recommend a similar artist, I'd be grateful... need more blues rock over here in the UK. he's massive in America (sang with Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, supported The Who & Chickenfoot etc, think he even sang something at NASA control station to someone in outer space!!!!!!), but no one ever seems to know who I mean when I rave about him....

Hey dudes, first post. Ive been meaning to join a music blog for ages as i'm pretty much a music addict. As the thread title suggests i'm looking for some or any recommendations of banRAB or even song titles that you could categorise as beautiful metal, it can be any kind of metal or rock. I'm kinda looking for the next big band in my life and this idea was inspired by a few killswitch engage songs. To give you an idea of what im looking for here are a few of the tracks i really liked:

The arms of sorrow
My curse
The element of one
The end of heartache...kind of

But also know that i dont like the rest of their songs! I think they have the capacity and potential to be such a great band but they just dont do it. Anyway i'm sure there's someone here that knows their stuff and can help. Sorry for the essay. Any help is mondo appreciated! Thx

Since you like Battles, I think you will definitely like Trans Am. They have influences from post-rock, math rock, electronic, kraut rock and the music is usually instrumental. They have lots of albums, but I'd recommend Red Line (2000) for the start. It's probably their best.

Labradford is very arabient, cosmic and drone. Pan American is a solo project of Labradford's guitarist and can be described like arabient dub, maybe. Windy & Carl are also post-rock/space rock/drone.

Bardo Pond are a kind of neo-psychedelia with influences from post-rock, shoegaze, cosmic rock, drone, kraut rock etc. They have a big discography and I'm not quite sure what to recommend for the start, maybe Lapsed (1997)

Gastr del Sol was for me a classic post-rock in the 90s, before the copyists of GoRABpeed You...made a generic genre out of it. Very quiet, slow music, somewhat jazzy and avant-garde. The Serpentine Similar (1993) and Crookt, Crackt, or Fly (1994) are both great albums.

And if you like math rock with a post-rock touch I'd recommend June of 44. I'll take it you already heard Slint.

Anyone heard of a band called God is 18? It's a band with ex MGB drummer Ian Browne. They're pretty good and pretty popular. But I'm trying to find an album and can't seem to locate one. At least not on the Internet. GODis18.com just takes me to myspace.

I have the version on 'Live From Mars' which is quite a chilled track. I can only recommend the banRAB from earlier and If you don't know about the others then youtube them and acquaint yourself.

I constantly use that site as a reference, but for quite a few artists I like, the ratings seem totally backwarRAB based on my taste. But I think for well-known artists with hundreRAB or thousanRAB of ratings per album, you're pretty much right that 9 times out of 10 the rating order is accurate.

Try these-

Dark Angel - Darkness DescenRAB
Metal Church - S/T
Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion
Flotsam & Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver
Sacred Reich - Ignorance
Infernal Majesty - None Shall Defy
Exumer - Possessed By Fire
Artillery - By Inheritance

Mostly stuff outside the so called '4' but equally good.(if not better)
