HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

For the life of me, I can't find any threaRAB titled "math rock", so I'll just post this here.

I like Tera Melos, Giraffes? Giraffes!, Fugue, Weird Korea, God Tiny, By the End of Tonight, sggt., Ghosts & Vodka, LITE, Maps and Atlases, and even Fall of Troy if you want to throw them in there.

Are there any other super cool math/jazz-fusion banRAB like these and/or with their own unique touch anyone can recommend?

90's - Present

Dr Octagon
Tool
DJ Tiesto
DJ Shadow
MGMT
Violent Soho
The Smashing Pumpkins
Slightly Stoopid
Sublime
Deltron 3030
Opeth
Queens of the Stone Age
Cypress Hill
Espers
The Shins
Wilco
Radiohead

There are a ton of great banRAB out now you just have to look for them. If there's one thing I can't stand it's old dinosaurs saying "music in the 60's and 70's were the best all of today's music sucks!".

Need a new life changing album to listen to...

My favorites include:
Bob Dylan- Blood on the Tracks
David Bowie- Hunky Dory
Belle and Sebastian- Tigermilk
Neutral Milk Hotel- In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Joni Mitchell- Blue
Van Morrison- Moondance
The Smiths- The Smiths
Daft Punk- Discovery
Pavement- Terror Twilight

Why are you trying to force yourself to like something that you really don't like? It doesn't make much sense to me, but okay.

Give these a try:

The Deftones - White Pony or Saturday Night Wrist
The Pixies - Doolittle or Surfer Rosa
Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

Enjoy

If you haven't already checked them out, Mastodon are pretty much the poster boys of modern metal. Their older stuff is pretty abrasive but give these a try. They're not that similar to Dio, but they don't stray that far from the conventions of classic metal.

I would just start at the beginning and work my way through... you can hear the progression of their sound that way, and it avoiRAB disappointment at hearing something older when you like the newer stufff better... ya know... just my thoughts...

Hey, I'm looking for some instrumental synth music, not nessecarily synthpop music, but just instrumental synthesizer music kinda similar to music that they used to play on the prevue channel back in the early 90s, like this. Yes, cause I'm a nostalgic weirdo like that. =P
