Ms. jrmcm is an ER nurse. The ethnic makeup of the majority of the degenerates overcrowding the ER for such traumas as hangnails and stomach aches is entirely based on where the hospital is. White folks do this as much as anyone.
 
I don't disagree that the impact to healthcare is significant.

I do however recognize that not having insurance is a facet of being illegal.

Immigration in all forms is a positive force. The negatives come into play when you make it an illegal act (or pigeonhole people into immigrating illegally because of extraneous wait-times and/or regulations surrounding immigration).

I view it much like the drug war.

Everyone realizes that the negatives far outweigh the positives, yet policy does not change.
 
So we're going through the expense, time and effort of changing multiple laws so that illegal immigrants can get Texas DL. I'm not seeing the gain here. The problem is that this person had no insurance, if they had a valid DL, there's no guarantee that they would have insurance either. You're acting like if we give illegal immigrants the ability to obtain DLs, they will all of the sudden go out in droves to buy insurance. I think you're wrong about that.

The real issue here is that there's an uninsured motorist driving, but there are uninsured US citizens driving around as well. Perhaps there neeRAB to be a better system for verifying insurance before someone is allowed on the road.
