Help with wiring a 2 ohm Kicker L7?

I had my sub wired 2 ohms "parallel" and it would cause my amp's protection light to come on. So then i wired it the 2 ohm "series" way and now my sub just doesn't hit like it used to.
My sub is a 2 ohm Kicker L7 and my amp is an Earthquake "T1000W/2" model.
So what would be the best way to wire this sub with this amp?
 
"J" Is a bit clueless, crunch is a bad brand, that amp wont do 1000 watts.

Wire the sub in series, bridge the amp. Its only 400 watts RMS, though, should still be decent.
