Heartbeat in Mail4Exchange 3.00.050

Funcked

After updating my E71 to the 501 firmware I downloaded Mail for Exchange from Ovi. The previous version I was running had an option to select the heartbeat with the mail server. Every once in a while it would get really low and cause my battery to go real quick. I can't seem to find the heartbeat in this new version. Did they remove it?

I am now having problems with MFE. It keeps losing the connection when I have it "always on". What was the previous MFE version and does anyone know where I can get it?

I run MFE 2.9.158 in my E61i. It doesn't have 'heartbeat' option (which was available in the previous versions), but it is pretty stable. It doesn't have html or folder support. If you like to have a copy then PM me your e-mail address and I will e-mail you the .sis or sisx files. I have to search if I have the older versions with 'heartbeat'.

PM sent. 2.9 is worth a try. As far as I can tell 2.7 was the last one with the heartbeat interval setting. Does anyone have a copy of the 2.7 sis file?

Further information on my issue is that it says, "connection failed, waiting to retry". It appears to retry the connection every 5 minutes and sync. After less than a minute it loses the connection and gives me connection failed message. Our IT guy isn't in until next week. From what I was told, he hasn't changed anything on the server end for months which would lead me to believe it is the phone software.

Tintin-thanks for the files

Gorgonesh - I am not using google apps. It is the MS Exchange server for our company's email. I'm 95% positive we're running Exchange 2007 otherwise it is 2003. I know it's not the 2010 version. It's worked fine for the past 2 years. I noticed it last week. I updated to FW ver. 501 within the last month and had to go with MFE 3.0.

I tried installing both 2.7 and 2.9. They both started and then said they were not supported on my phone and to check nokia.bussinesssoftware.c0m. Is there any way to get either of these to work? I don't know enough about fw and the program to know why they would work on earlier firmware versions and not 501. I tried updating to 3.07 from 3.05 and it still gives me the connection error. I thought about signing them with my own certificate to try and trick it, but it doesn't seem to be a problem with the certificate.

I tried both the 2.7 and 2.9 that Tintin kindly sent me the files for. The instal started fine. Then a message box popped up stating it was not compatible with my phone. I tried a couple times. I messed with the date like I sometimes have to do with I self sign and it didn't work. Any ideas would be great. The N8 was on my radar but MFE not working is a deal breaker and now I'm looking Desire Z or Droid 2 Global once the radio band unlock is taken care of.

My E71-2 (RM-357) is currently running v501.21.001 and had no problems installing and running MfE v2.9.158 connected to my Google Apps corp account. I have no issues syncing email, contacts and calendar events.

Maybe it's time to do a full reset of the device and try setting things up again?

Here are some screenshots from my device.

I was hoping to not have to do a full reset because I just got done loading everything back on and getting it set up the way I wanted. That and I don't want to lose Tiger Woods and Tetris with a hard reset. I'll try loading 2.9 or 2.7 again using a different computer. They don't make MFE for specific models, do they? Tintin's files were used on an E61i. I would think they should be fine for mine though.

Just copy the file to the phone and do the installation from the E71. I keep a copy on my SD card so I can easily install when I need to. If you want you can DM me your email address and I can send you the file I have for v2.9. Just make sure that you fully uninstall v3.x if you have it installed. Also, v501 firmware comes with MfE v3.x so if you try to create a mailbox for Exchange it will install the v3.x image that comes with the v501 firmware. Just install v2.9 manually and you should be good to go.

Emailed the file to you. Make sure you change the file extension to .SISX and then copy the file to the phone and then start the install from the E71. Also, under applications, make sure that there aren't any entries that pertain to any other installation of Mail for Exchange. Double check the settings in the application manager and that software installation is set to all and that the online certificate check is Off.
