Headaches, Tears, & Fears

As some of you who read my previous posts might know, I've been having trouble with some fraudulent charges which put me into overdraft and I've filed a couple of claims with the bank's fraud division in order to try to recover my money. Or at least have the overdraft fees reversed. I've even filed a police report.

Today I get a call from the creditor that I thought was taken care of since I called the bank after I first heard from him and the bank said they would stop the creditors since they shouldn't have a file on me anyway. He was basically saying that the account was now on hold, but that as soon as it wasn't anymore he'd be bugging me. I'm so frustrated with this whole situation. It's been going on for just shy of 3 months.

I've cried, I've gotten mad, I've yelled, and I've made numerous phone calls that ended in even more frustration and a lack of information. I just want this settled and settled in my favor. I'm not trying to rob the bank; I was robbed. Why can't they be nicer about it? Why can't they just answer my questions? Why do they have to make everything so stressful and difficult?

Legally, it would cost more to get lawyers involoved than I would recover, so that option is pretty much out. I could get the local news involved since they have this segment called "5 FIGHTING FOR YOU" where they fight on behalf of someone who's been wronged.

The more I talk to people about this, the more I find people who have had the same problem with this bank. I've opened another account at a different bank, but still. You'd think that if so many people have had this same problem with this one bank, they would fix whatever's wrong. Apparently they haven't fixed it and aren't going to any time soon. I wish there was a class action suit I could join or something. This is just rediculous.

Thanks for reading my rant if you made it this far. I'm just to upset and frustrated with the whole thing. I want it done with and gone because I don't deserve to have to deal with this. I'll just keep praying that things work out for the best. If you pray, please say a prayer for me so this is resolved before I have to go back to class. That's stressful enough without this adding to it. Thanks WTF!

;799294']I had a similar problem with my bank. They like to 'lose' any charges that you have made until right before the 1st or the 15th of the month. I travel a lot, and when I call the bank to get my exact amount or go online to check it- I won't always know exactly what is spent.

A key phrase I like to use a lot when dealing with these people is "Can you help me understand", and then follow it with the phrase "what can we do about this?".

That creditor does not care what the situation is. He is going to do whatever it takes to get the money and play ignorant to anything that may help you. Right now I'm butting heads with some creditors, because my ex-wife got her car reposessed and I was a co-signer (we had a binding court document placing full responsibility on her, and I was never notified of the reposession). He will constantly hound you, and they actually go to a class to learn how to make you feel like shit.

Fact: banks make more money from Debit card overdraft fees than they do all their other services combined.

But I didn't ring up the overdraft fees. Well, ok, one when I didn't know that they had emptied my whole account, but they charged up the other one. I should have had over $300 in my account. I was told that they would reverse the charges at first, but that didn't happen. Now I'm waiting on my second claim to be decided on. Well, guess what, they don't set a date as to when they have to make a decision. So I'm pretty much fucked right now. GAH!!!!

Kind of a late reply (sorry about that), but want to suggest you report the bank to the Better Business Bureau. It just takes a phone call (famous last words), but all reports are saved, and anyone else wanting to get references about that bank will be informed of your negative situation.

Hope you're able to get things worked out soon.

Banks are just trying to protect themselves, a lot of people try and produce fraudulent claims.. I would go in to your bank, in person and speak to a manager. It might help smooth things over, I'm sure then at least you wouldn't get any more animosity from them. Mention the creditors too, they might be able to give you some separate advice regarding them.

I do know how it feels though, some asshat got a hold of my credit cards and ordered a bunch of subscriptions for me. But the bank called me, I didn't have to call them... (switch to Bank of America lol)

Who the fuck reads VIBE anyways???

I have gone to the bank and talked to the manager. The problem is, they can't do much at the branch because everything is handled through headquarters.

Good news at this point, they've paid off all the overdraft fees and charges. I'm guessing that if they did that, I have a good chance of getting my money back. If not, at least now the creditors have nothing to go after me for anymore.

UPDATE

I finally got my money back. It was credited to my account today and I'll be able to go and withdraw it tomorrow hopefully.

Now I just have to straighten things out with the check systems because I was sent to collections. Mom doesn't want me to withdraw my money until that's taken care of, but I don't want to have my money sitting there in jeopardy any more. I don't trust TCF Banks. I plan to call tomorrow and see if they did anything since I talked to them yesterday.

Anyway, I'm just happy that the money part is all worked out and that I'm almost done with that stupid bank and all the stress it's caused me.

My boyfriend had similar trouble with creditors and overdraft fees. He had around the same amount of money you had in the bank one day, and he called before he took me out to dinner, just to check and it was overdrawn almost $300.

I know how much of a bitch it is, I was right there with him on the phone for hours and hours between the credit card company and the bank. Both customer services reps told us to call the other company.

"Der, I dunno, call the Chase company..."
"Eh, who knows? Call your bank..."

Stupid fuckheads. Anyways! Very glad to hear that the problem is resolved. Hopefully all the money stress will be alleviated before school, also.
