Have you received a new Smart Card from Bell?

I asked this already but never got an answer:

According to the special channel, 9200 PVR owners need the "V2" version of the software to make the swap work. I'm on V150. Has anyone downloaded
V2 up to now?

But why should I do their work for them? This is just part and parcel of the age we live in where we get less service and find ourselves having to do work for the company we are already paying (bank machines, internet banking also come mind). I wouldn't object to doing this but there should be a quid pro quo. Why don't I get a small discount off my bills when I'm asked to do something for a company I deal with? Perhaps they could take a dollar or two off next month's bill as their way of saying thanks for my cooperation and as compensation for the inconvenience their request has caused me . If nothing else this courtesy might help to build up some goodwill between the company and me.

Hi folks... had major problems with my swap and was a fairly simple solution so thought I would post it here and perhaps save someone else some time.

After 3 online activations, 1 automated telephone activation, and 1 manual CSR activation still had no luck receiving authorized programming on my 9200 (other 5100's worked fine). All channels listed in red. On my 2nd call, the technical CSR had me wait on hold for 25 minutes before we troubleshooted.

Simple solution opened up my programming and would have saved me hours of time... CHECK SWITCH.

I was talking to a guy today that got just the opposite, 4 cards for his 3 receivers. His 4th was a Rental 6100, that he returned 1 year ago.

Does anyone know which receivers will receive the card swap besides 3100/6100 models. I have the 6000, 5100, 4700 and 2700 models. Will those receive the new cards as well?

I'm not sure anyone, other than Bell, can really say for sure. It is possible, but who knows how they are making the selections. Could be random, could be by design, could be many different things including East->West.

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter since within a short time frame all subscribers will have the new cards.

Not for legitimate purposes. Bell wants them destroyed so they don't get into the hands of TV pirates.

And who do you think was paying$%250 for an officially "obsolete" smartcard, and what were they going to use it for?

I just received a new card for my 3100 on Friday, I have 1 3100 and 1 9242. It was very clear that the 9242 does not need a new card. When I registered online, it showed that 1 receiver was already setup (the 9242 I would assume even though it didn't indicate). I think the system is smarter than the people, and none will be sent. If you do get them, I don't think putting them in would be a good idea.

9200 software hasn't been released yet so until then we won't send you any cards.

Once the software is deployed to all receivers, we'll ship cards out to you.

:)

Hi everyone just received my two cards today here on the east coast :) model 3100 and 2700

Did my 3 4100s and 6100 this morning. Registered online. Only glitch was a reset of 6100 as only some HD channels showed up. After that they were all there. Took about 15 minutes total.

Got mine for a 9200, and my 6100. I also got one for a 9200 that was replaced by my current 9200 under warranty a year ago, as well as for a 3100 which died in a lightning strike two years ago--they were made aware about half a dozen times that I no longer had these receivers, but clearly they have no idea how to handle the issue.

So now I have two extra smart cards--a great way to start the anti-piracy campaign. Bunch of nards, really.

I see one person has indicated in the poll they have already received the new card.

Yesterdays firmware issues may slow down the swap a bit. Legacy receivers and the 6100 seem to have a problem accepting a Rom 240 at this point.

FWIW, I had a headache with my 9200 upgrade.. After 3 hours, I had no valid channels (other than the free info channels)..

Getting around the TOTALLY USELESS telephone troubleshooting routine (with it's lame voice recognition) and contacting a real person was 90% of the grief..

I eventually got my system to pick up my subscribed channels by holding down the power switch until the receiver rebooted... Once it started up again the updating screen came on and everything went back to normal.

Umm no.

The CRTC stipulated that the implementation of a secure access card was a condition of licence renewal. So, they'd do the same thing next time.

Yes the Audio dropout are DIRECTLY related to the new card. NEVER had a problem with audio on any channels until I upgraded my card yesterday.
I hope it quits dropping out soon as its POing me. Bell charges an arm and leg for their service and it is dubious at best.
Got my card in Alberta for my 9200 (didn't need a card before?), 5800 and 3100. Used the online update service and it went smoothly (except for sound droput) and quickly.

Using all Dish Pro Equipment for a couple of years now and for the life of don't understand why Bell won't support this awesome system? For some reason they don't want me using this equipment, but it works so much better they can go #$%# up a tree.
I mean why would I want to run numerous cables when DishPro allows two recievers per Coax (with special splitter)?

Lox

BTW, I was on the phone with tech support on a diff issue, and asked them about swap. Tech checked my receivers and said they are all up to date and will not be receiving cards. So, I presume that if you really want to know if you're going to be affected, you could call tech support.

I believe the poll got closed for that same reason. As more and more subs received the card, we all know it would get to 100%
