I know that not everybody is about color it just that I came across a lot of people who want to put black people a certain way and I know that other cultures are looked at a certain way, but to me it seems like the black culture get put down a lot more than other cultures. It hurts because not everybody is like the negative stereotypes that society has given us.

More than other people understanding us is the fact that we need to understand ourselves. We have got to stop seeking validation from others and learn to be content with who and what we are all about. We also must admonish and separate ourselves from that within our culture that is detrimental to our collective image. We can not be soft if we want to discourage this sort of behavior.

People have been hating on us since the first time they laid eyes on us. This isn't new. We can't help that and we will drive ourselves crazy trying to gain admiration from people who have it fixed in their minds as to what type of people we are. We are to busy trying to seek equality in someone else's world instead of try to establish independence and self reliance in our own world. We don't have to measure our self worth based upon someone else's standards. We don't have to be equal to them. We just need to be who are in our own way. When we were who we were, we were titans of civilization. Others looked upon us with envy and wonderment. We really to get back to that. Not for praises from other but for the betterment of ourselves.

You are right. I am assuming and could be wrong that you are writing from somewhere in North America...one of the nice things about my travels is that I've been able to see how differently people are toward others in many places in the world. I visited South Africa DURING apartheid and witnessed that blacks at home (USA) were treated a bit meaner where I am from. Expand your vision...see the planet. You'll be surprised how nicely you'll be treated.

I wish people would realize that those stereotypes have been around for hundreds of years and were created by RACISTS people. The "Angry Black woman" the "Scary, dangerous black man" were stereotypes white people attached to black people to make us look sub human and bad.

I was reading a psychology book about race and stereotypes that explained how when a certain group of people have an image attached to them then others will begin to look for ONLY the stereotypes or ideas that justify the stereotype/image. They'll subconsciously LOOK for the Angry black woman or ugly black girl or scary black man or Asian who can't drive or racists white person JUST to justify their racists thoughts. In the meantime they can get into an argument with an angry white woman, get called a racist name by a Latino, meet a really nice black person and get into a car accident with a white man and they'll STILL believe the stereotypes they've been told!

I guess people haven't reached that level of common sense yet...

Wow you people are sad. I could easily say white people can't dance and suck at sports and are generally average in general but I'm not. I was going to say I'm black and I don't understan the black culture but after seeing how racists some people are I have to say yes. Oh and those things I said above were said to me by my white friends. You see black people on the news because that's what the news chooses to show form your own opinion. It's funny how bad things outweigh good things when it comes to stereotypes. I see those comments and think man white people are racists but as you can see there are plenty of people who aren't ignorant like you dumbasses.

people are so ignorant. we should stop dividing ourselves up, i hate it so much. only smart and wise people stand together irregardless of their skin color. but things would be better if we all understood eachother.
