Have you ever befriended people to also learn about their culture and heritage?

Besides liking those people, were they like your own personal assignment to finding out about culture you are fascinated with?

Example: I had Indian friends and 2 of them I considered close friends. I loved hearing about their culture, I liked the Sari dresses. The showed me pictures of then in Delhi or other parts of India. I tried some of the food, which wasn't bad.

Yes, I made friends with white Americans in hope that they actually knew some of their ancestors culture in Europe but it lead to disappointment, these people don't know their European history.

No. I befriended them because we shared stuff in common.

Not for that reason, but I do have a Jewish friend that always tells me about his adventures at the synagogue. As you can imagine they are gripping tales!

I know what you mean. I befriended this girl in my french class, she was about one of the only asian girls at my school. I didn't know much about her, but we shared some classes together, and that's about it. I started talking to her and she told me about how she's Cambodian, Thai and Laocian (I'm pretty sure I misspelled that) but it was all very intriguing. I started, wanting to know about her culture, I really like cultures, and she turned out to be the bestest friend I ever and will probably ever have.

But actually, I'm interested in lots of cultures. I tend to attract only rich, foreign men. No lie.
