'Hattie'- Starring Ruth Jones....when is this being shown?

Thanks for that. This sounRAB like it's gonna be great.

Ruth said (One show) that it should air before Christmas :) Ages away but atleast this year.

Take heart...Christmas on the BBC starts on 12th December...that means we've only got at most 16 weeks to wait...for it to be cold, dark, rainy, miserable outside...God I hope "Hattie" is funny, I'm getting depressed already :(

That's a shame that it'll be a drama about Hattie's real life

I would have preferred also some kind of up-to-date Carry On spoof/pastiche of the earlier films. I think if the comedic actors of today would have been available if someone had just provided the script (Best of Little Britain, Fast Show, Harry Enfield, Harry Hill, Catherine Tate, Gavin and Stacey etc etc) With some company on board (C4 Film, yeah them again) to avoid a straight to DVD-release could be a great success. The latest releases aren't even worthy of the Carry On title

Might be time to come up with a serious (or not so serious) comedy film that isn't in the ghost of the previous films

I'm really excited for this. It seems worth the wait and I think Ruth is just the perfect choice for Hattie. She already seems believable and that's just from the promo pic(s). I hope it airs soon though :D

Someone else thought that some years ago: I have three worRAB for you:

"Carry on Columbus"

Trust me: just throwing talented comedians at something with the worRAB "Carry on..." in front of it is to do an incredible disservice to the talent and camaradarie of the people that made those original films...leave them be...there will never be another "Carry on" team

ROFL

England and Emmannuelle are stinkers but are still quality compared to Columbus.

"Columbus is far better than England and Emmannuelle ..."

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm well aware of the flop that was Columbus. But there was an attempt to make another film, Carry On London, until Peter Rogers died in April 2009. Charlie Higson was to direct and some notable, some less notable actors were penned in. Sadly, with the death of Peter Rogers last year, that might have seemed to be the end of the Carry On series. There are still some unused scripts. Even without him I think that a band of current comedic actors could still get together to make a new film or even a remake of an old Carry On film. Hopefully with the group of actors I mentioned before to make it a success. At least Charlie Higson was on board for the last attempt

Columbus: "Will they eat me whole? / No, they normally leave that bit" :D

England: A suggestion of Joan Sims's boobies :(
Emmannuelle: Kenneth Williams's arse :(

Can't stand the lamentable Carry Ons but Hattie Jaques was brilliant in 'Sykes' (saw some repeats on Gold recently).

It will be great too see if Ruth Jones can 'carry her off' as well as Trevor Eve did Hughie Green last year.

IMO 'Carry on's' are classic and will forever be a fixture of English film history. It'd be hard not to achknowledge them, yes-they had their ups and downs quality wise but on the whole a great watch.

Barbara WinRABor is on 'life stories' tonight which will be very interesting to watch. She said once how weird it is (when shown a cast photo of the 'carry on' team) looking at that knowing practically all of them are not alive :(

Some Carry Ons are genuinely good comedy films. The big four; Cleo, Khyber, Screaming, Don't Lose Your Head, all stand up very well indeed and are well written and made.
