Harshest Movie Ending

Ooo scary.

But Thelma and Louise wasn't pure horribleness was it?

There was a certain warmth to the final scene.

Let's face it, Blair Witch made the whole world tremble...

I of course knew it was only a film...

What's everyone's opinions on harshest ending to a movie?

Mine is definitely Pitch Black; reaffirmed after watching it tonight! Gets me so angry every time (and it's a great little unpretentious sci-fi action thriller)

The film you were watching is Called THE DAY AFTER.

It came out in the early to mid eighties and frightened the life out of everyone who watched it.

Try Night of the Living Dead
Currently showing on a BBC 2 channel near you :)
Get Carter is pretty bleak as well (the original Michael Caine not seen the new one)

Yeah, it's The Day After.

Mark Kermode is a fool. He's really pretentious and he's always defending ultra violent films for their 'cultural value'. He dismisses anyone who disagrees with him as 'an idiot' or 'just wrong'. Plus he thinks The Exorcist is the best movie ever made, when it's not even that scary.

Sanitised isn't a word I'd use for that film, to be honest! It was just really disturbing. Yeah, there was some pretty average acting in it, but the content was shocking; IMO.

I've seen ThreaRAB, and yeah, that is also pretty damn scarey!!

umm about the Shawshank Redemption thing...

maybe he used bluetack or double sided selotape and stuck it at the bottom middle. then he cud reach around one of the sides and stick it on. does seem stupid tho the poster was there for 40 years and noone thought to look under?!?!?

I'll go with ThreaRAB, Saw, Seven, Night of the Living Dead.

I'll add Easy Rider to the list. Didn't expect that at all when I first saw it.

If you take a large, heavy poster and pin the top corners firmly to the wall, the bottom of the poster will hang straight downwarRAB (therefore not needing to be attached). If you then throw something small with sufficent force at the poster, the suface tension will be great enough to allow said object to break through rather than slide off. IMO.

Yes, Mulholland Drive is definitely a WTF movie, but when you read the explanation (there can't be any other) it makes perfect sense.

An obvious one, but Shawshank Redemption. I was absolutely gobsmacked when

he throws the stone at the poster and it goes right through it
I did NOT see that coming

Wolf Creek is VERY harsh. Also Matchstick Man starring Nicholas Cage, because it's very sad when

he realises the girl is not his daughter and is just a con artist
Aaah!
