Harry Potter

Went to see it today :D was really good!!

The cinema audience got a bit excited though and it was really noisy! In the kissing scene someone wolf-whistled and then the whole cinema just couldn't stop laughing so we completely missed the next scene with Ron, Hermione and Harry in the common room! But hey! It was really good fun!

The whole firework scene wasnt in the book was it?? Was funny though!

yeah, bits were left out but they've got to, havent they? It's such a long book.
The film was even better than I thought it was going to be... if thats possible.

Going again this evening!!! :o

I've just come back from the cinema and thought the film was very good, its very fast paced so if you've read the book it will help you to follow what is happening.

I thought Evanna Lynch did a grand job of Luna - especially considering this is her first acting role. Imelda Staunton was great casting too as was Helena Bonham-Carter.

The two parts which stood out most for me where

The scene when Sirius is murdered, even though I knew it was coming, it took me by suprise and rather than be a dramatic violent death, it focussed on Harry as the realisation hit him of what had happened.

The part when Voldermort possesses Harry and then after with the realisation from the others that Voldermort is back

The last 20 mnutes are excellent, there was kiRAB in the cinema and this was the one part where everyone stayed silent.

It may need to be watched again as no doubt things where missed as it moves so fast but its a great film

Hope you enjoy it just as much

It's mentioned laterwhen Snape says all the veritasatum (or whatever it's called) was used on Cho, so there was none left for Harry

I'm surprised no one's commented on how much political satire there is in the film. For instance the "real life" dumbing down of GCSEs being in the news the same week that OWLs were dumbed down in the film was just a brilliant coincidence; but so much of the film takes place in the Ministry of Magic which is shown as being in Westminster. It's clearly a comment on how Government is trying to manipulate the public's views on terrorism (Voldemort) and how Government sacrifices people with principles (Dumbledore) in favour of bureaucrats and control freaks (Umbridge).

Is the book similarly satirical?

It's very much like the book (those parts that it actually uses) and I'd not say that JK had any hidden agenda.

OWLs were featured heavily in the Book and most of the exams were written about - despite previous postings the OWLs do appear in the movie, that's what they are in the middle of when Fred & George leave.

I surprised at how good this film was.

All the reviews saying it was a bit dull and boring were totally wrong imo. Loved it, have to say its the 2nd best film yet, borderline best, think it may be more re-watchable than Goblet of Fire so may become my fave.
Loved Luna. She is my absolute favourite Character, she was brilliantly played and I just cannot put worRAB into how much I enjoyed her character, highlight of the film for me. I loved how funny/weird she was, and felt so bad for her getting her shoes stolen, I wanted to cheer when they were above her head and she said "I want pudding"
Umbridge was such a good bitch, I liked the montage bit (gotta love a montage) where she was putting in all the rules, interrogating Snape.
Liked bellatrix aswell.
Was unsure of the bit where the order collected Harry, seemed a tad over Cheesey them all getting their broomsticks.
Liked the scene between Harry, Ron and Hermione at the fireplace aswell, seemed to be tension between Ron and Hermione which was good
.

Loved the film though, everyone must see it.

Quite so, Saigo. To give a hint of how long unexpurgated movies would have to be, the unedited audiobook reading of The Deathly Hallows (607 pages) is approximately 24 hours long.

I'm not suggesting she had a hidden agenda but David Yates is known for directing political drama on TV and his direction of the film emphasises the political aspects of the story.

In a couple of weeks when the cinema isnt so busy. I usually end up with someone tall in front of me when I go too soon after a release  :D
