Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

Hm well heres hoping! I'm just hoping they make it as true to the book now considering the time they have to play with! But i suppose they will make the big scenes like the seven potters last longer.

It was something about his father being a wizard and left when he realised that Dean's mum was pregnant i think. That's the thing i would only do it if JK approved and i would only do that storyline if JK allowed it to be put in one of the early series. Perhaps series 2 or 3. EDIT: Just checked JK's site for it and it was in CoS, which would be kinda perfect!
My plan would be to make Hogwarts feel more like home and to have the other characters in Harry's year more involved so that it wasn't just him, ron and hermione but we had some other "regulars".
I watched a bit but i couldn't really get into it.
EDIT: yes, i forgot he ran off because of DE's chasing him. Trying to protect his family.
I could try and put in the scene between Malfoy and Nott that JK had originally put in. I might put more Malfoy in and Nott because i do think they are interesting characters and want to know more about them but in the pilot of course, i won't need them but perhaps when i adapt the full book perhaps i could feature them more.

Having only ever read the first 4 books; I can't comment on merits or critisisms relating to the story. However, I believe the general story was easy to follow (especially having seen the other 5 movies).
I believe it is unwise however, to compare the movies to the books. Any common sense will tell you they can never be the same by any means. I understand frustration with missing out key plots within the books. However; it would be wise to take the films as a complete separate interpretation altogether. Obviously it is not realistic to include everything. Bad choices probably were made which does create confusion for the book reader.
What I'm getting at, is that as someone who has really only seen the films; they do their job well. I wouldn't go as far as tell the reader to not bother watching the films. What I would say, is everyone should enjoy the films for what they are. It seems pointless to me to watch a film and pick out every part missing relating to the book. I will agree however that Snape revealing himself as the HBP did feel pretty pointless.
Just my take :)

I've just finished reading Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince and it is my second favourite book so far. My favourite is Order Of the Phoenix, but I 'm going to be reading Deathy Hallows to remind myself of it again. I hate Snape for killing Dumbeldore.

Yeah the Grawpy chapter was  but then there was "Luna Lovegood"; "St. Mungo's Hospital"; "OCCLUMENCY" (fav chapter); "Seen and Unforseen"; "Snape's Worst Memory"; "Department of Mysteries"... onto the end of the book that more than make up. :p

I'm off now. See you all later. :)

Woah, I haven't been on this thread for a while and it's really grown!!

Apart from the trailer, is there anything major I have missed? Just so I don't have to read through about 100 pages!! :o Thanks! :)

Talking of coherent plots, I may have made this point on this thread already, but how can somebody who has no knowledge of the books understand the films when so much key information is missing from them?

Hermione was supposed to be rude in the film.

Jessie Cave was brilliant as lavender. there was far too much talking in this film and not enough showing us what they mean. Although i have to say i think that in some of the scenes there needed to be a few more lines.

My coach's son is hot, he is quite shy and it was only Monday night that he spoke more than 3 worRAB to me. I'm not very good at flirting or any of that stuff with a guy i actually like.

I'm just back from watching HBP and think that it was a really good film! Of course it was nowhere near as good as the book but I never expected it to be. The magic of these books can never fully translate onto film.

The one thing that I didn't like was
why Dumbledore didn't freeze Harry at the top of the tower to render him unable to help...
to ask him to
simply stand aside
goes against everything we have been told about Harry's character.

That said... the film was peppered with dark moments and also some great humour. The actors got more of a chance to shine through in my opinion.

Looking forward to DH!!!! :)

I think there are always going to be chapters/storylines that people don't like. I'm in agreement with all the giant haters on here....I'm not keen on the chapters dedicated to the giants. But some people love them....each to their own I say!

careful we don't get started on whether harry should be with Ginny or not.....AGAIN!
