Halloween Remake (Production photos)

Seen the workprint - was looking forward to seeing this seeing as it had M McD in it.

Thought it lived up to where I expected it to be (having seen H o 1000 C), agreed the backstory was better - liked the title sequence, but during the rape scene it lost it's way - there was no tension, no fear, no reason.

The ending was abysmal - almost like they took time to get the 1st half of the movie in the can then just lost time, patience and / or funding (assuming it was shot almost sequentially).

The original was far superior, but I think this was due to J L C in the role of Laurie Strode (she was far more hysterical, but then Michael was scarier in the original).

2/10 - save your money for somethng better in the cinema.

I've had a good search around the usual sites and haven't been able to turn up a release date either. With the film being complete I understand them wanting to release this month in America. But surely they wouldn't want to pass up the marketing opportunity to release in the UK (Europe?) on Halloween? Select screenings on Wed 31st Oct/Thu 1st Nov, with a full release on Fri 2nd Nov?

Agreed and thought I'd mentioned that before, I thought the swearing at the beginning of the film and the rape seen were a bit OTT to be fair.

The cinema version is completely different and many scenes chopped out completely and some scenes added, it's a bit of a mish mash really.

Was good seeing the two, and overall think the workprint was much better. Another Dimension Films hack at the original print, I'm glad I managed to get the workprint now as it's the one I prefer.

I will see the theatrical version in the cinema too. But I have to admit having watched the workprint it was suprisingsly very good. A lot of posters on another fan forum acutally prefer the workprint ending. The workprint is Rob Zombies vision. The extra Kills were added because a certain controversal scene has been removed. Also the Ending has been reshot. (This was because dimension ordered the reshoots.) Maybe we will get both versions when it comes out on DVD. I hope so because I dont want to see a similar problem that happened with Halloween 6. The unreleased Producers cut is far better than the abortion that was theatricaly released.

Definately can confirm that the workprint was better overall. Some scenes as per the spoiler have been re-worked and to be honest, I can't understand why. It was good seeing the two and comparing them though. Maybe the DVD will show some of the original scenes so everyone can see 'em

The ending shocked me though as I knew what was coming, then it ended differently

One remake I'm actually looking forward too.
Halloween is one of the best movies ever, and I don't mind remakes so long as they bring something different to the story.

I decided to watch the workprint when I found out the cinema version is more or less a different movie!
I'll be seeing it in the cinema too,but from I also gather the workprint in the best version.

But I can't believe Dimension have f**ked up again by demanding another ending, reshoots and alternative scenes, they should have realised they don't have a clue what they are doing 12 years ago.But no they decide to screw up again!

I like the workprint ending it's very tragic,Frankenstein esque and yes it stills allows room for sequels-so why the the hell did they change it.

The AkkaRAB seriously need to get away from Dimension/The Weinsteins (they are a disaster area) and work with another studio, pity Golan Globas is not in business anymore.

I'm not sure exactly what type of contract Dimension have with the Halloween series but this is twice now they have stuck their noses in and released an inferior movie.
But if possible the Akkad family should work with another studio/distributor for the next one,why not New Line Cinema which has always been fair to the Freddy/Jason movies.
