I just got back from watching this. I can honestly say that i thought it was one of the worst horror films i'ver ever seen. It started off fairly promisingly, but then it just went massively downhill due to the terrible storyline and immensely unlikeable characters (especially Laurie Strode, who is a far cry from the Laurie played by Jamie Lee Curtis). The only likeable person was probably Brad Dourif's police officer. The dialogue was atrocious, every other word was "f*ck" or consisted of annoying teen girls calling each other "baby". I'm not one of these pro censorship nut jobs, but the swearing was totally unneccesary, and if i'm honest it ruined any atmosphere that the film might have had (people were actually laughing at how unrealistically overused the F word was).
The gore was up there with the most extreme of mainstream cinema, and in one scene it's clear that Rob Zombie has seen 'Irreversible', but Halloween was never really about gory kills, it was more about suspense, which H2 is sorely lacking. There were some decent ideas in there (like Michael the hobo), but they were just very poorly implemented.
Definitely one to avoid.
