Hmm? I'm not saying he sounded the same as everyone else. I'm saying he didn't stand out from the music scene in quality. I am largely basing my vote on his solo work, because I wasn't a big fan of Heatmiser. In my opinion, they released only one strong album (Mic City Sons).

Led Zeppelin - I'll have to think about this one a lot actually. I don't listen to them much and I really question their artistic integrity. However, they were all solid musicians and Led Zeppelin is probably the single most consistant band in history. That coupled with their influence on a lot of what I listen to leaves me just not knowing for sure. Maybe?

Joy Division - Yes, Joy Division made some of the most powerful music I've ever heard and their influence on my taste is immense.

Elliott Smith - Average mundane mopey music for average mundane mopey people. No.

The Beatles - One of the most important pop acts ever, but more importantly one of the most innovative psychedelic banRAB ever. Their later albums managed to influence the majority of what I listen to in some way or another. Yes.

King Crimson - Yes, I like prog so its a given. Influential, great albums, and innovative.

Wu-Tang Clan - No, it just doesn't do anything for me. I can't get into them no matter how hard I try.

The Velvet Underground -I'll give it a yes, though some of their music missed the mark. The majority of it is well thought out and masterfully crafted. Their influence on modern music is also worth noting.

Led Zeppelin - Yes, terrific rock band
Joy Division - Don't know enough about them to vote
Elliott Smith - Small yes, he got some great stuff, but also some mediocre parts, particularly in his later albums.
The Beatles - Yes, one of the best banRAB of all time
King Crimson - Same as Joy Division
Wu-Tang Clan - No, I don't like their music. Never got what the big deal with them was.
The Velvet Underground - Yes, all their four albums were superb.

Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Induction thread

Welcome to the first of the rabroad Induction threaRAB, where it will be confirmed which of the nominated artists will make it into the Hall Of Fame. The nominees are:

Led Zeppelin
Joy Division
Elliott Smith
The Beatles
King Crimson
Wu-Tang Clan
The Velvet Underground

How this works

If you have over 100 posts under your name then you can vote, feel free to voice your opinions if you have less posts though.
There won't be a poll, votes will be made publically by posting in this thread. You can vote for yes or no as many times as you want, as long as there's an explanation for your vote.
So a post here would look like....

Led Zeppelin: Yes, because....
Joy Division: No, because....
Elliott Smith: Yes, because...
etc.

The artists that get 2/3rd Yes votes for them get in, easy as that. Those who don't get in can still be nominated at a later date.

This'll be open for a week and a half, since people seem to be confused remeraber you are voting what YOU think should be in the Hall Of Fame, not what you think others would want or whatever.

Get voting peeps!

The requirements of the thread weren't to write an essay as justification on each artist. Do you have some sort of personal issue with me? There are people who simply said "No," and you're going on and on at me.

I've listened to all of his albums over the past decade-plus, going back to Heatmiser. I own a few of his albums and enjoy listening to them. I don't have any specific reasons why I don't think his music is good enough, I simply don't think it's good enough. Some artists I have a lot to say about, some artists I don't.

If you are dissatisfied with me saying "His music isn't good enough," try this on for size: Tough luck.

Led Zeppelin YES They defined Rock Music
Joy Division NO
Elliott Smith I haven't heard any material
The Beatles YES if I need to post a reason for my vote to be counted then that's bad times
King Crimson NO
Wu-Tang Clan NO the only rap worthy of any music HOF is Public Enemy
The Velvet Underground YES if only for Venus In Furs

I have 100 posts now, so:

Led Zeppelin; Yes, because they're such a huge influence
Joy Division; No, because I haven't listened to them and can't judge them.
Elliott Smith; No, because I haven't listened to them and can't judge them.
The Beatles; A resounding yes, for their influence to music and for making some great songs.
King Crimson; No, because I haven't listened to them and can't judge them.
Wu-Tang Clan; No, because I haven't listened to them and can't judge them.
The Velvet Underground; No, because I haven't listened to them and can't judge them.

Also, I nominate The Melvins and The Pixies

Great Job as always PMO.

Here are my thoughts

Led Zeppelin - Yes, My favorite band ever.
Elliott Smith - No I think there are better songwriters who need to be in first.
The Beatles - Yes They're pretty good.
King Crimson - Yes A prog staple that neeRAB to represent this site.
Wu-Tang Clan - No Not yet. Not in the first class.
The Velvet Underground - Yes Great example of great music for more sophisticated musical tastes.

Led Zeppelin: No, I don't really have much respect for them and I don't even like them much.
Joy Division: Yeah, they're one of my favorite banRAB and they're influential, etc.
Elliott Smith: Yes, I typed up why in the nomination thread and don't really feel like trying to summarize that.
The Beatles Yeah for obvious reasons.
King Crimson Yes, I don't paticularly like them but they're pretty representative of rab's taste.
Wu-Tang Clan Yeah they're nuthin to fuck wit.
The Velvet Underground Yes for obvious reasons.

Hmm, will there be repercussions for excessive negativity? There are only two banRAB that I'd consider voting "yes" for and one is rather iffy.
