Guys need not reply

aleve (naproxen sodium) lasts longer than that. honestly, what might work well for you is 800mg ibuprofen. that's the prescription strength. don't take it regularly, but once every 6 hours during the worst of it might help. a good friend of mine takes 500mg aleve (also prescription strength; you can achieve this by combining the right amount of pils) and it works for her, but the elimination half-life of aleve is such that you don't want to be dosing every 4 hrs... more like 8-10.

when i get weird internal pains (mind you i'm a guy so their nature is different) i often take 800mg ibu (motrin), 1000mg acetaminophen (tylenol), AND 130mg aspirin. since you're less than 21 i would NOT advise taking aspirin; huge risk of something called reye's syndrome (think of it as "you die now"). but the others mix safely, again, as long as you don't keep dosing regularly for more than a couple days.

Wow. what were u? a pre med student before u went for your major in math? I think u know a lot more than u give urself credit for. Thanks for the advice. I'll cut back. :)

u seem to know a lot about medicine, and the effects
got any ideas on headache, but something that won't interfere with asthma problems?

aw shit. i forgot to mention, you should not mix the aleve with the motrin. naproxen and ibuprofen are both NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) and don't play nicely.

like i said, try throwing a mixture of things that mix safely at it. if that doesn't work, i know a great company in india that will ship mild synthetic opiates (dextropropoxyphene, commonly known as darvocet). beware, though: things like that might do AMAZING work at killing all kinds of pain (and i do mean all), but they are addictive, you will build a tolerance easily, and you will feel euphoric and tired which can interfere with your functionality. in other words, i'm not actually suggesting it, unless you can manage to talk to your doctor about it (i don't see how, say, two or three days out of a month can get a person addicted) and get him/her to agree. work the sympathy angle if nothing else helps.

now, since i never read the beginning of this forum, i'll point out i am assuming from the topic you are talking about menstrual cramping. sorry i drone on so long, but sometimes i have trouble saying what i mean in less words. anyway, NSAIDs can cause stomach bleeding, aspirin burns every part of your digestive system (yes, from the throat down), and tylenol attacks your liver. essentially you're poisoning yourself in small doses any way you look at it.

have you thought about getting on birth control pills? loestrin does a wonderful job of regulating your cycle and almost invariably reduces cramps, irregularities, and ultra-heavy days.

for the headache, read more carefully about opiates. nothing has ever worked better for head pain, HOWEVER i would be ill-advised to recommend them to an asthmatic patient; they also cause respiratory depression (slowed breathing). combine that with the potential threat of asthma, and you have a recipe for disaster. are your headaches chronic? do they happen like daily at just about the same time? try to see if you can fix it more generally: diet / exercise / multivitamin supplements daily. it sounds kinda dumb, but caffeine binging can cause weird ass headaches that REALLY FUCKING SUCK... i mean, i could go on forever.

and to answer your question, no, i've never been a medical student. i have a weird quality about me that enables me to learn and retain things very completely, and i've always used it to make sure i KNOW about anything i eat/take/do/etc... so with medicine, i have spent a lot of time reading and learning.

anyway, good luck to you guys. pointless pain sucks.

yeah it does. I have thought about going on birth control and am acutally going to make an appt. with an obgyn tomorrow since I didn't have time on Friday. I'll come to u for health knowledge now. Thanks again!

My doctor's a fuck tard. I'll ask u first. And thanks for the concern. I'll remember that. Although I'm very against premarital sex. :)

hm.. get a new doctor? is it hmo or a small practice? you should be entitled to a health care provider who works well with you.

also, i know about your premarital sex thing from your earlier comments. just take my word on this: there can be SO MUCH pressure to 'conform' to the trendy aspects of society (Including sexual promiscuity) that it's tough not to. don't let it catch you off guard, you know? protect your principles.

Please please please please please kill me. Please, I'll pay you. Oooo. I need some chocolate, a good movie, a heating pad and my bed. If anyone calls, i'm in my pit of misery. Ooooo.

Yeah, like I said, in an earlier post, the equivalent for guys is getting rammed in the testicles. I've been kicked in the balls before, and it hurts so bad you can see spots. So yes, I do sympathize with you.

Also, once I was in school, on my birthday, and I had horrible cramps. I mean, I was screaming in the nurses office. It was torture! I went into the bathroom, and I shat for about twenty minutes. Some of the pains subsided, but at that point I had to go to math class, and five minutes later, I had to poo again. So I can only imagine how bad it hurts for you, knowing that women take pain better than men. I'm a pussy when it comes to pain, I have a very low threshold.

Just remember to not move too much. When I have cramps, that sets me right off.
